    Hey all,

what are your opinions on the above two mentioned companies for their cdl paid training programs. i want to stay close to home(nj) and still try to work for one these companies. prefer something local but that seems very hard at first starting out. anyone willing to share their thoughts?

Schneider if you want good training. JB Hunt if you want a good starting pay.

Learn how, then ask. I have a brother in law that paid for a house and more from JB. He never liked me. I'm an 0/0. Made too much fun of him. Schneider is the same way. I Man up though! Get some miles and chose for your self. We all have to learn.

Interesting...so jb hunt has better pay starting out. Do you think I can make minimum of 800 a week starting out. I will be okay with that

    mje Thanks this.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think J.B has a training program.

    mje Thanks this.

I averaged $700 take home pay a week when I first started with Schneider...that's after 401k, insurance, and taxes.
After my first year now, and two raises...I average $800 take home + bonuses. ( $400+ quarterly)
I don' t know JB Hunts program...but most other trucking companies made you team and stuff for months before giving you a solo rig.
Also...Schneider has been really good about treating me well and getting me home when I want.

    mje Thanks this.

Hard to say. Everyone is different. I made Trucking second and my Wife one. She got me lost once. Not a bad record for all them years. :biggrin_25514:

Nice details from schneider side. I am still going back on forth on the paid training or do it on my own at a local CDL driving school. From what I hear and read, both companies take on fresh new CDL drivers. Also, schnieder has a tanker division which why I am still interested in them. I will talk with a jb Hunt recruiter today and see what they have to offer. I will keep you guy posted.

I would go with JB Hunt. They can go 63 on cruise instead of 60.
