I appreciated the comments, but let me clarify the case. The "major" accident happened in Dec, and I was running out of hours. I spotted a place to shut down, but saw it too late. I was turning around in a parking lot, I thought big enough for the truck AND trailor, but it wasn't. I hit the overhang and did damage to the trailer. The police was kind and said he wasn't going to write it up. I called the proper people and was put on "probation" for six months. The second accident was; I was told that I ran over some grass and left the scene, I was approached by a couple in an SUV, who said that I destroyed the landscape. I stopped, checked out the trailer, landing gear, airlines, etc... everything was good and I continued on, got to my next stop, told my dm what had happened and heard nothing else about it. The third, happened on new year's eve, in a side road near the Pilot in Bath, NY around rt53 and rt 54 off of 415. A snow covered four foot drainage ditch helped me blow out a tire. I paid the tow and finished my route. I was told to put the truck in the shop, and 18 days later, let go. My csa2010 was, and still to this day, clear to my knowledge, ( W.E. pulled it up during orientation in Feb)
I admit that I am not " a GREAT DRIVER, " or even " A Good Driver" but I don't feel that I will continue to make those mistakes, I paniced. None of you that started out in totally new career, NEVER MADE A MISTAKE????, the question was asked "would I hire me?" given the situation, I would ask about them, hear what the explaination is, weight it out. if the insurance would allow, and I have the need, then YES!!!, (But we know that the insurance would be too high, in my case,) I will also re-train, train, and re-train the heck out of me, until I am satisfied that I could drive and back. If that means keeping me out with a trainer for 300-350 hours at peanuts, so be it. if I want the position, I must do whatever it takes, we are in a recession, freight and moving it is recession-proof, or so I've been told. There may not be alot at times, but I still see trucks traveling down the highways. I will learn to be a "safe driver". I haven't hit any other trucks, cars, or people. Curbs, overhangs, grass and such, I still have to work on that. -
I lol at grass. Some shippers that happens at try the best not too. The over hang well yea ur kinda screwed there. A tire watch what your doing. From all 3 it seems ur not watching ur surroundings all that much. If ur not sure don't try it. If u go into violation u are aloud to make it to a safe place to park.

None of what you described is an "accident". All three of those things are "incidents". If you weren't so new to truck driving only one of them would have counted against you. Trailer tires blow out all the time. Running over some grass is a "don't do that" thing. The overhang is the only thing that cost more than a few hundred. "Accidents" involve another vehicle and if they are on private property are not DOT recordable.
Still none of those would affect yours or the companies csa safety rating. -

I'm sorry you had so many accidents man. Have to be really careful out there and do everything very slow. When you think you are king #### off the road doing everything really fast because you think oh i got this, that is when you mess up. it happened to me. I should've been doing things slower and safer. I had one backing accident in 8 months. Well I actually had a couple minor ones but the company didn't know about and no one was around. Maybe you should try driving a gravel truck for a bit. Good luck man.
Steering Knuckles Thanks this. -
Yeah, I will be in the future, as a matter of fact, when I was at WXS, I went slower, in driving 2-3 miles under the limit, the trainer got upset and said that I wasn't keeping up with traffic, or "can you do the speed limit" or tell me what the limit was, when I saw the posted sign. I didn't think that going 63 in a 65, or 67 in a 70, would be so bad, but apparently I was mistaken.
zoekatya Thanks this.
