I wondered why the FD routes all has signing bonuses attached.
-
I was told they just got the FD contract in Ashley, IN is new not sure about other areas. I start orientation tuesday. I'm hoping my trainer has a fd route so I can get a taste of it during training. -
Seems like FD routes are always available in my area, which probably tells me drivers don't last long. Signing bonus seems to indicate that as well..

Yeah very true. I agree with you. The hand off loading and multi stop is what I hear most drivers don't like about it. I dont mine the labor part as I'm thinking I'll be gettinng a daily workout.

Depends on the account...

Makes me glad I'm on the JCP account. Now the quesiton is how long JCP will be in business!!
grossing 900 week at .32cpm. Not bad for a years experience. I am home weekends and home 95%to 100% of the week. -
JCP is alot like Kmart. They are barely holding on. Never settle down when on dedicated accounts. The contracts can void out almost instantly based on tons of different reasons. Customer and carrier have fall out options to tuck tail and run

I am currently subbing on the fd account out of Ashley. Schneider is a great company but honestly..this account won't be for everyone. There is a lot if bs that goes along with it. Obviously the worst is the hand unloading. But the way they stack the freight is dangerous. We've. Had several guys injured helping on this account as the only way to get the nixes down is to pull them on top of you. The average load is stacked over 4 foot above my head and although they aren't supposed to stack heavy items over your head..they do. Trust me..nothing like getting hit in tge head with a 30 lb box of kitty litter. Then..after unloading all day..having to try to sleep all nasty and stinky ad most of the time you won't have access to a shower. They expect you to unload as many as 5 stops a day. They think you should be able to unload 700 pieces in under 1.5 hours. Which..some probably can after getting use properly setting up rollers but you are still at the mercy of the store associates who aren't always motivated or lack the room. It is a very tough account and i an by no means trying to dissuade you from trying it. But remember it and work and not excercise.
I think I'd rather join a gym or do pilates in the parking lot before I 'd look forward to fingerprinting every load. But..that's just my opinion and if you do decide to try it..best of luck! -
I am considering Schneider when I return to driving again, medical reason. A company somewhere in the carolinas hire me a rookie in 1997, paid for my schooling if I worked there a year, it just happened to be Family Dollar. A good place to learn about accidents as some of the stores have little clearance driving to unload. I recall FD didnt get the loaded trailers ready in time often. Driving into the night and getting up early to unload. A eight hour brake back then was actually 4 hours of sleep maybe. The carolina company went bankrupt.
