I thought that it was law that you have either a bulkhead or headache rack on your truckto pull a loaded flatbead but im see quite a few without either one. Can someone let me know if that has changed or not please

Yep, about three years ago, but that didn't stop a Texas DOT officer from telling one of my trucks he had to have one, my driver said "on a car carrier" please show me the reg. that was the end of that conversation.

Personal I like them both. I have a side kit already with a buld head and want to put a headache rack on also for extras

Not a federal requirement anymore, some companies still require them, I'd suspect The Peoples Republic of California or New Yorkistan might add something to the state regs to line their pockets and exert their control over their subjects. I mean "citizens". Sorry, had to rant.

It is no longer required to have either, but I like having a bulkhead on a trailer. If you switch trailers from time to time, a headache rack is a good way to go since it keeps all your chains, binders, etc., with the truck. Some shippers won't load a trailer with a bulkhead. I think that one or the other is good when you pull flats. They do offer some protection in the event a load moves forward.

All your pipe yards around Houston require them.
I was at Dewey pipe yard a few months back this guy was there dropping off a load of 20ft pipe bundles on a stepdeck, the guy pulled the load from OH the load didn't even come over the step soon as the yard guy walked passed his 5th wheel he turned and said were is your rack? The guy said I'm not picking up I'm dropping off! He said sorry can't unload you" the driver said the pipe can't go thru the deck to the cab and it's not taller than that step

He ended up having to get another truck to pull in and unload it off his trailer that driver was pissed cost him $250

Now first I have a bulk head, but companies like that need to be blockaded. let their freight sit.....lol course that will never happen just like we can get trucks to shutdown to get fuel our number own killer of companies under control

I would have pulled off my chains and made a sharp turn and let their crap spill all over their yard and left..... who cares if I got paid, the I WIN factor would have been payment enough.
