I was looking into becoming a car hauler and received a offer from united road transport. I wanted to figure out what comes with being a carhauler. The pros and cons. And is this a good company to start my carhauling career. I've been driving 9yrs and see this as a big change for me. Any info would help. Thanks

United Road out of Romulus MI, Is probably the biggest non-union car hauler in the industry,.....

A few years ago I was an Independent car haul company,...Just me and a truck,....Before I went out of business I looked into leasing my truck on with them and they seemed fairly decent,..

They run there training school at the "rail head" in Detroit,....Which is also the corporate office,...I used to see them training guys how to load and unload when I picked up there,...

All in all I think they have decent compensation and they have very good training,....

Chances are you will end up in a daycab and have to get used to hotels and clean hot showers in the privacy of your hotel room,...lol..

My only real concern would be the economy and the state of the auto industry,....Though they seem to have cars to move,......

Thanks walleye. I was wondering about the company trying to get some feedback. Like I stated this is my first time hauling cars and I wanted to know the difficulty of it. And also find out how good the company is.

Learning where to put the cars and how to tie them down properly takes some getting used to,....But it's not that bad,

The worse part for me was looking for cars at the auctions,...There always seemed to be one or two that were misplaced and the driver has to wander around and find them,,....That part sucked,...

All in all I enjoyed it and if the economy hadn't tanked I would more than likely still be at it,...

Luck and good fortune landed me a very good ltl job,.....
