Depending on what your record looks like you can probably beat Landtar on your P/D insurance, you will have to take thier in house bobtail and unladen coverage which runs 22.38 per week. My theory on insurance was that I had 21 years of experience, 2+ million miles with no tickets and never any accidents on my MVR. Should I pay rates that are based on a group where there is going to be guys getting tickets and having accidents,it happens when you have thousands of trucks. My theory was right,I did some shopping and decided on True North saving myself 100.00 per month.
You can get the process started (it may take weeks,so be prepared) but before they will schedule you for orientation you will need to have a tractor that is ready to run which means it has had its inspection and you have proof that you have paid your 2290.country843 Thanks this. -
When you do your load board demonstration you will see alot more than you can now. Also recruiting should include a few pages off the load board that show whats coming out of your area. Your in a very good area and should have no problem pulling van loads that pay 2.00+ on average. There is also plenty of 3.00+ freight running east of the ditch.country843 Thanks this.

I just checked the load board for van loads out of South Carolina,I put in a min rate of 2.00 and a max weight of 25000 and found 30 loads that were moving out over the next week. Most of them were well over 2.00 and well under 25000. You will do fine out of your area.country843 Thanks this.

For me it was a month but I had 2290 issues as well as an extended wait on an employment verification. My case was probably a bit extreme but I would highly suggest useing that as a time frame. I know some that it took less than a week from start to finish. We will help you thru the process and make sure you dont make some of the same mistakes.country843 Thanks this.
