The "F" in FMCSA stands for federal...as in government. So, to answer your question, because they can.

I'd tell them to go piss up a rope, last I heard from OOIDA your cell phone can only be searched with a court order or if your under arrest.

Its closed at Rock Springs for eastbound, word is they're still cleaning up the wrecks from the last day or 2. I've been sitting here most of the day, overflowing with trucks they even opened the Fairgrounds to park at.

I'll check out that datt app, thanks.

What I was referring to is the vast amount of information at our fingertips today, I very well remember the cabover days and constantly stopping to use payphones.
Weather, road conditions, finding fuel stops and getting titty emails from a buddy while in the middle of podunk Saskatchewan was equivalent to flying cars not too many years ago.

Dumb company move . They issue all drivers smartphones to keep track off them . Drivers were pinged every 15 minutes but the safety department never bothered to check locations against paper logs .

I have used it almost every week to get new os/ow permits emailed right to the truck and printed off while on the road. It has made its money back and then some not having to pay for faxes all the time.
