So after all this searching on here about how horrible Werner is...I took a job with them...yea I know that's what I get. So after 2 days of orientation they tell me I have to sit in this skeezy hotel room and wait about 1 or 2 weeks for a trainer....so uh no thanks I'll be going back home tomorrow afternoon. Anyone have any decent companies that hire students in and around the kentucky area?
that's what I get...

It use to be 1 to 3 days when i first started with them but now it's more than that because they don't pay drivers, most trainers are gone and now they increase the waiting time. watskin sheppard, prime, schneider will treat you better than big blue. Good luck with your career.

This is what Schneider has to offer .

Starting orientation in pennsy nest week. -
You can try Watkins Shepard but no trainer goes out with you, just 10 day orientation.
..but yea, listen next time.. -
Try Epes we run alot out that way. Kinda picky and hard to get on with but if you make the cut it's a good gig. Smaller company, good money, good equipment, good hometime. Right at 2 years now I'm still happy here.
And yeah, if you did your 'research' and still went with wiener, well you deserved what you found lol.
Try Epes. If you've got specific questions pm me I'll be glad to help if I can.KingTrucker Thanks this. -

If you don't mind running a reefer trailer, check into Maverick. They pay very well and are great to work for. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any.

Are you getting paid while waiting for a trainer? Who paid for the hotel even if it's "crappy"? If they are paying for the hotel why complain? Trucking is not always glamourous no matter where you go. You have to learn to suck up the bad and push for the good. You just started. All that work and you give up because of a hotel room and 1-2 weeks wait for trainer? I mean all this with respect, you should stick to it, keep your head down and do the job you invested your life into. Anything above 6 feet under is a good thing.
randal02lee, Ghost Ryder, Saddletramp1200 and 2 others Thank this. -

I waited 5 days for my trainer. But that was to get me hooked up with a non-smoker and someone who was running the regional route I asked for.
In reality, a 1-2 week estimate might turn out to be three days. Probably not, but there is the chance.
Waiting that long for a trainer, in a paid hotel room (if that is the case) and getting training pay (if that is the case), is nowhere near as bad as waiting three days or more just to get sent on a 200 mile load!
