I currently have a short wheelbase [under 230"] 3 axle tractor and am thinking about adding an axle but don't currently have enough room for a lift axle/pusher axle. What are the cons of going with a tag axle? If I have it lifted can I still go to western canada - BC specifically -even though theynwill not recognize it for weight ?
Anyone added a Tag axle to a tractor

To get that axle to fit, you're going to have to stretch a lot more than the 14 inches. Personally, I don't think the money in BC warrants consideration when compared to Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, where you would be okay. Btw, how long is your trailer?

I have a 3 axle DD (53') currently but am kooking for a 40 -50 ton stretch

check with BC, I think if you have what they call a pin on in the rear, they will allow the weight. A friend of mine with my old company is looking at doing that..
Rontonio Thanks this. -
One of my guys got a ticket in Manitoba right before they changed the regs last year. The got him for a 270 wb truck with a 50 ft Rgn. He could get a permit for the long wheelbase. He could get a permit for the trailer. But he couldn't get a permitted for the over length truck and the over length trailer. Our kingpin settings on our rgns are something like 2 inches over the limit for Manitoba.
but like I said, a few weeks later, they changed the regs again. It's been a few years since I quit going up there on a regular basis, and so I currently don't know what the trailer regs are. -
A single axle jeep will work as well
