I am tempted to purchase a used Freightliner Century or Columbia with 14l Detroit engine and shipped it to Kuwait.
So far we dont have American Big Rig and all what we got is European truck. They do fine in the 90s but the newer models have tons of problems due to heat and dust etc.:
My questions are:
- How can I convert truck with12v. To trailer with 24v.
- What are the necessary spare parts do I need to keep in door.(at least for a year)
- Where to buy parts for reasonable price aside from the Dealer.
- As an alternative, if I get a better deal with MBE4000 engine, can it handle extra heavy load as a Detroit s60.
- Last thing, can a single axle perform as good as a European single axle if it geared like 3:90? Or should I go with a tandem
I truly appreciate your help
Need help and advices on buying FL csc

MBE4000 engine is junk from what I know and a pain to work on they seem to like to blow the bottom end out on them about 600,000 miles or so. I would go with the 2 axle set up do to having a pdl and it can help you out some times in a bad spot having the floating axle will get a lil better mpg and the rear ends in the single axle are fine will hold up no problem. Don't know lbs. you guys haul but we gross 80,000lbs here for the most part some coal trucks doing 120,000 plus and they do fine. I would go with a classic xl but that's me I would say get one that has a cat motor in is also.

There are 12-24V converters available in Russia. I use it for trailer EBS power supply. But I kept lightning 12V changing bulbs

i am not a fan of MBE neither but nearly everywhere a side from the US is a loyal fan.
CAT engine parts price on ebay drove me away .
the legal weight on a single drive axle is nearly 29k lb. total GVRW thing is limited to 100k lb regardless of how many axles . actully with a tandem you loss some load weight as it heaver . -
thanks master Pablo, i chosed Freightliner Centrur as you once posted it is popular in Russia. though i wonder how it will do when the weather near 50 degree (120F) lol
