I have been to several Gander Mtn. locations across the US. I am usually met with Huge parking lots that are nearly empty and signs all over saying "no truck parking" I am of the opinion we should all ban Gander Mtn. for all of our outdoors and hunting and fishing needs.

On the flip side Most Cabella's and I found a place in Tuscaloosa AL. called woods and waters that has lots of truck parking!

Ok driver get real does this mean we should boycott all companies that dont allow big trucks in them like some Walmarts or Targets or other stores there is a reason they dont want us there ever thing of that. Like ever notice the cute islands through out the parking lots and the light posts or land scapes they have ever wonder what a big truck would do to them if we hit them? I drive for a company that deliveries exclusively to Target stores sometimes i am forced to spend the night there i dont like staying in the back dock area at night so i go to the front of the store if i can, at some of these stores it is very hard to get around the obsticles with a 53 footer. Not to mention if a ton of trucks are parked in them where do the 4 wheelers park and it increases the chances of there customers cars getting hit or them or us blocked in right? Or lets not mention what the wieght of a big truck would do to a parking lot during a nice hot day or night. Some places use less asphault or cheaper asphault so the chances of it sinking in is greater. Thus you have more expense in wear and tear. Think before you type driver.

Although I would enjoy the freedom to go park in any retail area that suited my desires, I know it probably is best if big, heavy trucks go elsewhere, to places designed for us, to do our shopping and dining.

With that said, there are Wal-Marts, restaurants, and some shopping centers that are not only easy to navigate in and out of, but seem to expect and appreciate the truckers that stop in.

2xR tries to do the shopping before starting the trip to avoid uncomfortable trips to the mall in the eighteen wheeler.

There are almost always trucks parked along the outer area of our local Home Depot parking lot.

Well I can see both sides of the parking issue... I do think that a truck driver should have the right to shop at any store they want long as they can get in and out safely.. Far as staying overnight, well I would have to side with the store if they agree or not...

Now this leads me to this......
I was in Atlanta this past summer... I unhooked my TRL and bob tailed to the Walmart to stock up on food ext... I usually spend no less then $200-300 when I walk into walmart. Not all on food but things like movies cleaning supplies ext...
I had not been in the store more then 10 minutes tops and I hear over the intercom my truck being called out??????? I am freaking bobtail what the heck is the issue here I am thinking?????? So I walked up to the front and asked what is the problem and there was a TOW TRUCK DRIVER ready to tow my truck??????? I said what is the deal and they said the entire city of Atlanta has a no truck ordinance... I said well that ordanance is BS and could be considered profiling... How can they single out truck drivers and not allow them to shop in the city of Atlanta????? Anyways Walmart said go ahead and finish shopping but after this I was not allowed to park there anymore (or any other store parking lot far as that goes) I said no thank you and left the shopping cart right there and left... Noway was I going to support such stupidity....

This is an issue that really needs to be dealt with, and you can be sure this will spread throughout the US.. Just as Cali no idle has and it will also keep spreading...

No reason a bobtail should not be alowed to enter a parking lot to shop at that store.. If I had been in a RV or any such vehicle it would of been fine, but the fact I was driving a bobtail I was threatened to have my truck towed if I did not leave....
    That is a real problem......

Hmm, I searched and searched and couldn't find any law banning the parking of big trucks in the city of Atlanta--I guess I'll have to take your word for it. It wouldn't surprise me though. I came from one of those communist-type cities that had laws banning anything and everything. In fact, it's part of the reason why I'm living where I am... if I want to build my house out of old pallets and live in it, I can do just that--no permit needed.

Laws like parking ordinances against trucks, unregistered vehicles and many other similar laws are just written to keep the poor people away. No money to fix your car? Sorry, you gotta move.

Too bad all truck drivers wouldn't get together and honor that ordinance... by not picking up or delivering ANY freight in Atlanta.

I would dance foolishly, in the streets, if that would only happen. The same goes for some other anti-truck communities.

IF truck drivers would get together, we could eliminate all of the injustice over the country. How long could California continue to "pick" on us if we really wanted to put a stop to it? For instance... treat California as we used to do Mexico. We will pick up and deliver their loads in Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon. This way, California can eliminate that truck idling problem. They can ship their produce on a train!!!!!!

Of course truck drivers have payments.. but I agree... if the Atlanta thing is true... why would anyone want to pick up and deliver in that City?

You wonder if we could come up with a program of dealing with one state at a time. Pick one, and shut it down... then on to the next.

No one wants that.... but what will be the results of continued harassment?

I learned my job 42 years ago as a member of the teamsters. Where is Jimmy Hoffa when you need him? lol
