Hello,
Im from poplar bluff mo and have had to come back to trucking. I had done a log gig last year and had a few failed inspections and a moving violation.. So i moved on with my life and worked locally at a factory. Well now they have moved to mexico and im in need of a job. My plan was to have my driving record clear up and move to locally mixer trucks. Well i Cant do that, so i applied at werner. I was told i could take a dg accont from fulton mo.
I have just a few questions to ask first. Do i head to dfw for orientation or head to fulton? Is it true I get a reset at home every week? Any chance they run petes on this paticular account? Lastly, what states will i run and how will i come home? Will i be under a load or just dh home? Theres a truck in my town who drags a dg trailer but i dont know his schedule, so i cant figure out when to try and talk with him.
DG out of fulton mo?

For Orientation, they may bus or fly you to DFW or Love Field or even up to Omaha. As far as Fulton, Mo goes, that s where you ll pull DG loads out of there, as far as the states goes I would imagine MO,KS,IL, IA,OK and AR anywhere within a 300-500 mile radius. As far as getting home, they may have you deliver to a store that s close to your house, so you can go home empty. Most companies wouldn t want a loaded retail trailer sitting while on hometime. As far as trucks on the account I ve seen, KW, Petes, Internationals, Volvos and Freightliners. You pretty much will be given whatever is available. As far as weekends off goes, it may be based on seniority. You may have a weekday off. I hope this helps somewhat

Delivery days are Tuesday through Saturday, and the occasional Sunday or Monday if there is a lot of freight or all the loads weren't delivered during the week, but its usually volunteers. Officially, there's no such thing as Senority at Werner, and it has absolutely nothing to do with hometime on DG accounts.Dark_Majesty_06 Thanks this.

Thats fine, i was just curious if i had a rest every week. It sonds like you chew up your 70 through out your week.. So i dunno how running off the recap could work. So H-D, do you run on a dg accont or just know about the hometime policy on it? If you know any other facts, i would love to hear them!

Just left DG a week and a half ago. Trained on the account from Aug-Oct, and was actually assigned to the account from the beginning of Feb until just recently. Went and got a real job.

Gotcha,
Well if anyone happens to have any input to this, feel free to let me know. Im all set up, just takng some tme to research. Thanks. -
Many DG parking lots aren't set up for trucks. If your weak at backing you're about to get real good at dodging poles, cars, curbs, and power lines. Many of DG's customers have no patience and will be darting in front and behind you while backing, getting in your way while entering and leaving the lots. Most of the store managers will disappear after pulling the seal when you unload, and they'll magically reappear when your done unloading. Many people complain about unloading the trailer, but it never really bothered me.
The pay vs hometime was the reason I left. Burned 65-70 hours a week and was gone Monday free noon- Saturday afternoons, and only grossed about $850 a week.Dark_Majesty_06 Thanks this. -
WOW.!!!!...I bring that home in a days works..Buy your own..

Alright, i gotcha. Yea, i didnt expect it to be easy. I usually dont have problems backing.. Now if they stck me in a long nose. Im really just going to do this till next summer where i can switch over to ready mix when all my tickets have fallen off.
Honestly, if i can get home on a friday or saturday morning and leave monday, ill be happy. Like i said, i need to stick it out till next summer and ill be home every night. Thanks so much for the information!
