Taking all suggestions into consideration, it's just difficult to spend a day or more without any income when you are as small as we are. I'm guessing you either are not an owner operator or you have alot more financial backing than we do. For us to take the truck back requires at least a day labor to remove the wet kit. Then another day to drive the thing up there and come back. We have one spare truck which is sold and supposed to be gone this week so that means no spare. No truck. We have NO income unless that truck is moving and loaded so even if we pick another new truck up and bring it home immediately there is another day labor to put the wet kit on. You are talking a loss of more than half a week's income for us. Right now we are not financially stable enough to handle that. I appreciate ALL of the advice but not all of it will work for us. That's the beauty of a site like this. You can get a ton of advice and choose what fits you best. Nobody shot anything down. It has all been considered and very much appreciated but it won't all work for one person. I want help from respectful, knowledgeable people that actually know what they are talking about. That is exactly what I want.

I'm not mechanically educated enough to answer how the truck is spec'd - we didn't do it, it was sitting on their lot when we found it. I do know that my husband said he felt "the rear ends run hotter than what they should." I don't know what that means. I'm just trying to get some ideas to him before he blows his top over this deal. I really appreciate your advice and I will definitely pass it onto him. Thank you.

Awesome! I will definitely pass that onto him. Maybe he can take it there today if it gets much more trouble from Freightliner.

Having been in your shoes more than once... When it was something that I couldn't handle I found that when I tried to cut corners I would end up adding another week of downtime. When, if I had taken the truck to a professional shop in the first place, maybe it cost a little more per hour. I could have had the truck back in 2 or 3 days at most. You will end up sepnding $100 trying to save $5 because you refuse to take the problem back to the dealer and make them fix it.. ..considering how they treated you, if it were me I'd take it somewhere esle that I trusted... ...Even if that meant bobtailing for 3 hours. Sounds like the truck is undriveable anyways and you've already lost another day here dilly dallying around. I'd go to a competant shop asap even if that means paying $105 an hour. If you have a warranty worth a crap you can deal with getting that money back later..

It was a Cat. He isn't expecting this one to run the same as a Cat, he's had Detroit before and he knows how they should run, that's why he's so upset. It's not acting like it should be.

I guess I was just curious why he went with the Detroit if it wasn't his or your mechanics favorite choice? That's the nice thing about that Coronado, you can get a couple of different engine options with it.

Personally I would have gone Cummins N-14 525, BUT that is just what I would have spec'ed, to each his own, just curious on the choice, as a good mechanic local would have factored heavily into my decision.

Hope you can get it straightened out with a minimum of downtime.

What is the last 6 of the vin? What do you mean it only showed 400 horse. Did they put it on a dyno or is that what engine is programmed at? 100 less horse is way to much on a dyno.

We have had that issue before with Freightliner using every excuse to cover a repair under warranty. I wasn't really suprised to hear the guy in Des Moines refused to work on it until Harrison called his supervisor. They changed their mind in a hurry but that doesn't promise they will do the best they can to find the problem. He will only work on it himself as a LAST resort if he can't get results with a professional. Cowpie1 mention Shane and my husband knows him and one of his techs so that is a definite option before he tries anything on his own. I was wrong about the waste-gate as well. He didn't actually do anything to this one. He was telling me what he did to another one and that it should be done to this one.

Harrison has been pretty helpful so far and have offered to work on it themselves but we are trying to avoid the down time. They told Freightliner that if it was their screw up in the build, it would be completely paid for by them. In my opinion, Freightliner is just being lazy and arrogant. Their initial reaction was that they didn't want to touch it because that would make them a 3rd party since it was built somewhere else. Wrong. That emblem on their building says otherwise. We get the results from running the over-head pretty soon. Can't wait to hear that they didn't find anything and we owe them $400.

I spun the #4 main bearing 2 weeks ago .... I am currently waiting for my rebuild to be completed ... I have one truck that is my primary source of income...if when this rebuild is complete and my truck preforms like yours guess what I am going to do (no matter where I may be) I am going to take it back to the shop or the nearest shop that will cover the warranty. You know why? Because tha's why I am paying them to do this job...no I am not independently wealthy and 2 weeks off plus having to pay out about 12k makes my bank account look like it did when I was in high school....If by continuing to run it you are doing further damage you will be way further behind while you get it repaired...but hey...I don't know anything....Good Luck
