I am 20 years old, and earned my class A Cdl last year. I have been working for a custom harvest crew for the past 3 summers, and I plan on going this summer until August to have some recent experience on my resume. I will be 21 in July of this year so I am excited that I have finally reached the golden age. What companies will give me a opportunity to pay my dues, and start a career? What kind of training should I expect, since I have my cdl I should be able to hit the truck running almost right ? I already have some basic knowledge obviously, but I am not the Charlie Daniels of the Road by any means. I want something physical like flat bed or something where I unload, but most of all I just want a chance. I have a clean driving record not a thing on it.
Opportunity?

Seems to me, with the attitude you show in this post, you will not have too much difficulty getting a chance. One thing I learned a long time ago about finding a job. Think like the guy who is hiring you, if you are able to demonstrate that the job is honestly something you want to, not just a job because you need it, then he is more likely to hire you. After all, if you were hiring someone to do a job and found someone who you genuinely believed wanted to do it, you'd have a tendency to want him for the job.
Don't know if that makes sense, but your post speaks of earnest desire and competence for you age. Best of luck to you, you could probably have a 100 truck fleet of your own by the time you are 35 if you want to. -
If you want flatbed I would try Maverick, TMC, Roehl, Boyd and a few others that I can't think of at the moment. I think all of these will hire you.

With your experience try to find some small mom and pop type operation.

Thanks, for your kind words.

I will do some research at a few of the companies that popcorn169 mentioned and let y"all know. If anyone has any advice or leads it would be appreciated.

At 21 you will not have a problem landing a trucking job. Wish I would have started 2 years ago when I turned 21, but unfortunately I didn't take care of my MVR like you did lol. So congrats on having the clean MVR first of all and congrats on having your CDL.

Don't listen to all the hype from recruiters at the major trucking companies and talk to actual current drivers of different companies. Nothing is going to be as good as it sounds but you can make the best of any opportunity at any company. Drive safely!!!

You can also check Prime Inc. out for flatbed as i think they are trying to grow in that division of the company.
