what is a recruiters job? to get you to sign on the dotted line. It is your responsibility to verify before you sign. So many today don't want to take the responsibility for their own decisions, and claim they were lied too.
I was never lied to by the recruiter...
people tend to hear what they want to hear, and not what was said.
I did my homework, and investigated first. I spent 5.5 years at stevens. I now drive local, my choice.Emulsified, Corporal_Clegg, Bigdubber and 1 other person Thank this. -
I don't think that cgerhart realizes that his statements are more of a detriment to himself than Stevens. When deciding on a career change some basic research, fact finding and due diligence is advised, the fact that Stevens came as such a surprise indicates cgerhart did neither. cgerhart; put the shovel down, your hole is deep enough.nascarchuck and Corporal_Clegg Thank this.

Not to be rude or contrary, but.....after working full time for the last 35 years, I believe I'm the one that paid for my school after I let the government collect interest on my money.....I've never collected any kind of benefits until I got injured in my last job resulting in knee surgery....after being released from work comp several months before rehab was complete I went on unemployment (money I contributed) and was offered paid schooling for two years....so I chose CDL-A school....and I'm pretty sure after working for this long and contributing the entire time, I paid for the school.....although, I will say that I'm not sure that's the case for everyone who gets funding....just a thought -
This is for LMajito, I own my own tranportation company here transporting Motor Yachts using hydraulic boat trailers costing over 100k. And I own a 70ft Sea Ray Yacht trailer much bigger and longer than your little 53ft van trailer and my hydraulic trailers tranport Yachts as long as 60ft and 22ft wide. I pay my employees very well and I take care of all fees and permits.
Oh, by the way, You critisize my screename? I can tell you never graduated from high school let alone get pass the third grade!!! How imauture you are for picking on my screename!!! And paying your "dues" that's so 1990! Wake-up it's 2013 and if you want to hire a Quallity employee you must show them your a Quallity company too. -
Sorry stevens but had to laUgh at what my boyfriend told me today, lol.Last night a stevens was weighing his load and ran over a huge cement block. He finally stopped about 10 feet when he seen he could'nt go any further.Wrecker had to come and lift the trl up.Tore the airlines right off and damaged the reefer tank.So with that said, does stevens make the drivers pay for their screw up?Oh he said it was muddy as an excuse,LOL.

Yep, he will be paying the deductible X 2 for damaging our equipment. That's called not paying attention, it happens to drivers all the time, and not just the ones working for Stevens.
Voodoo Pyg and Corporal_Clegg Thank this. -
Ya I know.Ive damaged equipment at my company all minor but none the less im guilty and should pay for it.

I almost fell on the floor when I called Stevens today for hiring info and was told they are currently not hiring drivers with driving experience! Just driving school candidates. What kind of trucking company docent want drivers with exp? that is a very bad sign, it scares me!
Big Duker Thanks this. -
A training company. Why would they hire you whom they need to pay a higher wage when they can train someone, get paid from the student AND the government for "retraining" them, then pay them .26 a mile. That's the business they are in.
