Thought I'd have to decide my fleet after training, but they want to know now as I'm applying. Do Dairyland drivers offload or is it no touch? Any advice needed now. Thanks!

(If it matters I'd be based in Gary, IN.)

FWIW I was just faced with the same decision and I went with van national. I picked that basically because of more pay and more miles. I don't mind being out the 11 to 14 days either, then you get 3 days off. With the regional you're home every 5-7 days for 1-2 days, but less pay and less miles.

    DaveBrown Thanks this.

Can't speak for Dairyland but I've been on RN for 9 months and I have all the miles I can handle- can't remember the last time I didn't have to count hours coming back on my 70 to get home. 99% no touch- only a couple of places you have to stand on the dock and watch, other than that just hang back, make some nachos and chill in the sleeper- but we also do a LOT of drop n hooks. Sometimes I'll go more than a week without a live load.

I'm out of Boston btw, starting in Gary is great for reefer because you can reach pretty much anywhere with a fresh 70, including Phoenix. Tough to do that from the east coast. Can't say I'm not jealous.

Finally a recent thread related to Roehl Reefer!

I start RDTC on May 20, 2013 and chose NR.

    Keep the information coming please.

If I may ask; does living in Wausau, WI work to my advantage also?

That close to the mother ship can't hurt.

Out of curiosity, how come you don't start until May 20? Is that what you requested? I'm hoping to start RDTC next week or the week after at the latest.

I chose to start later. Kim called yesterday and said any Monday I wanted.

However, I want to be a good boy and give my current job a two-week notice. I also want to save a little more cash.

Ahh cool. Yea Kim told me the same thing, and since I'm not working at the moment, I'm looking to start ASAP. I go in for my physical tomorrow morn, so really hoping I can start next week's class.

    Good Luck Man!

**Here was my experience with the physical.

I think I'm a healthy 28 year old male. Had my physical on Friday the 12th and got my Medical Examiner's Certificate for two years. Got a call back early the next week from Roehl requesting a second opinion from a different Doctor about some minor issues. I was slightly aggravated, but realized they were covering their ##### and being thorough. Also, I haven't been to a Doctor in years, so it was cool getting a clean bill of health so to speak.

All in all I thought if I had the signed MEC I would have been good to go. It only pushed me back a week, but I can relate to you being eager to get going.

One thing I have learned about Roehl is they are very thorough, which is good I guess. I've worked out 5 days a week for years, so I don't think I'll have any issues with the physical. We'll see what happens. Maybe I'll run into you sometime next month.
