Thanks guys, good info. I live 30 miles west of Cleveland,Oh. I like running Texas, but Ill go anywhere except Ontario and Quebec. Im carb compliant so Cali is not an issue. Right now Im leased to FCC I make about 1.43 pm with fsc. I bring 1500-1800 to the house per week before tax and repair acct. Just looking to get more bang for my buck so to speak. I dont mind tarping, it can be a pain but no big deal. Thats one reason I want to run fb again, its actual work. Ive gotten lazy an chubby pulling van.

Being able to do outside loads at Jones is nice if you are good at it. You can sometimes double your revenue across the country, but it takes time and patience. My brother is there and he runes a 53 step. He comes across some nice loads to fill up the step sometimes. It doesn't always work out that way though.

used to have my own operating authority, currently leased to mercer. wish I had come here ten years ago. it's that good. on the year I'm averaging just under 2$/ mile, off the odometer with all miles in. and I live in the freight black hole of south Florida. I often deadhead 150+ home after unloading, and another 150+ to get out. if not for those empty miles to go home I'd be doing well over 2$ a mile. also, only a handful of my loads have been over 40k lbs, and a full half of them were under 20k. I know I sound like a #### testimonial, but it's really that good here. the only complaint I have is that there inspection is very very picky, tho to be fair I understand why they are that picky. I got flunked at orientation cause my abs light on the dash was out.

if you decide to come over here the 3 things that can make or break you is
1: very clear communication with your coordinator, make sure you are clear, they need to know how you like to operate. he or she is you eyes and ears for freight, but also use the load board to back them up.
2: don't go top black hole dead freight areas unless it pays good enough to deafness or come out cheap. without fail every week some guy fresh out of orientation runs to south Texas or out west and then sits for a week cause those are black hole freight zones.
3:stay booked. if you deliver Thursday you need your reload booked by Tuesday, do not be afraid to pull the trigger and commit on a load because of the " what if something better comes up" thing.

oh one last thing, big miles does not equal big money. the money is not in the coast to coast runs.

As my son says, coast to coast generates big revenue- but regional generates bigger profits

I like it here at Mercer but things are slow again and watch out for a couple bad agents.
I'm still waiting for the MS agent to make good on a dry run fee they promised almost 2 months ago. I have called them appox. every 10 days and were gona take care of it. Now called Jason twice. Wish I could say more.

Dry run is cancelled or change different than the order.
This picturlar run was listed as a 41K load by the agent, once loaded, it ended up weighing 46K and shipper stated it was agents problem, though I can't haul that heavy. Agent said they'd take care of it.

I spent an entire day at la porte tx trying to load a container heading back east. almost got arrested there also. bent my bumper in pulling up to there parking outside the information phone booth. flipped out and started cussing, yelling and slamming stuff. security came from all directions. I talked my way out of it and later finally got loaded. Drove to the truck stop a few blocks down the road. scaled out a thousand or so too heavy. Broker actually had the nerve to ask me and run it anyway. said I could name my own price. My balls aren't quite that big. I also wouldn't trust anyone that asked me to do something illegal anyway. I unloaded that thing immediately and headed back to Baytown for the night. needless to say.. my time wasn't compensated for by the broker. the few brokers that would be understanding enough to pay truck ordered/not used are a dime a dozen and well appreciated.
