I have wondered this ever since I have seen the first Maverick truck. Why does Maverick run such small trucks? Maverick drivers are you comfortable?

Small trucks?? Thats news to me. Mavericks trucks are full size sleepers. Only dedicated drivers run anything smaller

The trucks I see around are not the full sized trucks like Stevens or Werner ect. run. The PPG glass plant is nearby where I live, and I know that is dedicated so that might explain it.

Are u meaning cab height size??? A lot of flatbed carriers run mid roof trucks as otr van carriers run raised roof sleepers. Not sure why a lot of flatbed companies run mid roof trucks? Surely a skateboard puller will answer the question

Yes mid roof is what I am talking about. I have seen this a lot with the flatbed companies as well.

I am new to trucking but this is my thoughts. The reason van carriers use the taller trucks is aerodynamics. The taller trucks get the air over the van easier. Flatbed pullers do not need the extra height and run the shorter trucks. From my understanding you can still easily stand up in them so it is no big deal to the drivers.

I would also guess that flatbed tend to be in places with lower heights because of construction sites and stuff so its easier to have a lower truck.

    thats my .02

I believe also, most flatbed drivers get home alot more often than most ban drivers. That could also explain the sleeper height. Less height, less cabinet and storage space.

We dont run teams, with exception of trainers, therefore we dont need the extra bunk. That extra height cost $1000's extra not to mention its extra weight which means we cant haul heavier loads.

    Blind Dog Thanks this.
