The ONLY good things i CAN say about jb hunt is this..........

    1) My paycheck was there, on time, every-single-time.
    2) Never had any payroll issues. $700 weekly.
    3) I loved the emplyee website. I always felt "in control" of my personal files, like ins benefits, loaded miles payed, etc...
    4) Great customer accounts. Big names, like sport authority, home depot, whatever.
    5) NEVER, NOTHING, EVER put on my DAC. Clean, clean, clean. ( i was shocked)
    6) Well maintained trailers. 99% of them where kept up.
    7) My DM was really, really nice,polite,caring...........until she got pregnant and had to take a few months off.

After that, it was hell on earth for me. Never the same.

Here are the bads in my opinion.
    1) Tractors are small. (international pro star-half version)
    2) Bendix driver control system (anti roll over-self braking system)
    3) Driver treatment. No respect.
    4) Hometime is a luxury, not a necessity.
    5) Careless 3rd party recruiting.
    6) The shop. Intermodal first, DCS second. Anybody else, last to never.

I think your pro and con are right on the money for JB Hunt. My old FM called me yesterday asking if I wanted to come back. He always took care of me and now he is the planner. The terminal manager is also a good guy. I don't know, maybe?

The good, the bad & the ugly. Who on here can say they are 100 % satisfied with the company they drive for? Who on here has NEVER had anything go bad at the company they drive for? JB Hunt gets bashed over and over again....Some of you make out that JB Hunt is the worst company on the road, yet they keep on rolling along. Yes, I work for JB Hunt and have been with them for 7 years. Yes, on more than 1 occasion I have wanted to quit...but didn't and am glad I didn't, as things are going well right now, for me personally. I'm not getting rich by any means, but I am paying my bills & am satisfied with my job. For those of you that dislike JB Hunt, you are indeed entitled to your own opinion......but we all know what opinions are like.

I think I drove for 10 companies between 1998 when I started and 2011 when I got hurt driving for JB Hunt. I was with JB the longest, 3 1/2 years. If the wheels are turning it will be the driver's fault. If someone calls in on a truck the driver is at fault. Corporate policy. Overall it was still the best company job I ever had. As an O/O Sunco was the only place I enjoyed working more. Best thing for each driver to do is make a list of things that are important to them them put thin in order of priority. Maybe it is sometime or money or equipment or freight lanes. Driver unloads, benefits, pet policy, APU or any number of things they feel are important. The more experience you have the better chance you will have of landing your dream job. Each time you move you start over and have to prove yourself again. Maybe you were getting 3 weeks vacation and now you have to wait a year before you get 1 week. Trucking is stressful enough just dealing with traffic and some dock personnel without the added pressure of company policies you don't care for.

That was years ago, 90 days last I saw and they even started limited training. They even lost a suit for pirating rookies from CRST not long ago.

If there is one company where "most" drivers have worked - it IS JBH, whether in the '80s, '90s, or recently.

There are tons of reports on them around here - you can't dismiss them all

Even from many recruiters who have left - or been ran off over time

You were BADLY misinformed. They are the reason the previous owner started this forum. To warn others about how much he thought they sucked. Talk to their recruiters. Get promised a dedicated job and head to orientation. And find out like 90% that it was BS. Get sent home like 40%after arriving because they didn't do ANY prehire background checks as they said they did and now they have found something that disqualifies you. They aren't the bottom of the barrel-but lower your feet an inch or two and you will touch bottom. Might want to find a little better class of "drivers" to get your info from.

Hi guys. Im a new business owner and am pondering about pulling freight for jb hunt. I own the company and have a driver hired. Is this a good idea. I was told ill average 1.70-1.75 cpm. I was also told they do a minimum of 2500 miles but if i wanted them to work my driver upwards of 3500 miles that they can do that. Does anyone have any experience with signing up their trucks to pull freight for jb hunt? They have many different pay scales. It goes based on the miles of the route. For example 0-199 miles pays x, 200-499 miles pay x, 500-799 miles pays x, etc etc. they say they run east of the mississippi only. Im on the east coast so that works for me.

I like their loads because its mostly hook and book and very little loading for my driver which saves on downtime which will yield more money. Im looking for peoples opinions on this. People that have experience in this sort of business arrangement. I know i can make more on my own by getting the loads myself but im looking at this as a goldfish that is trying to get his gills wet to start out.

Any help would be great. Sorry to jack the thread.
