Pay by the mile can be deceptive. I prefer percentage+surcharge.

Neither for me. I prefer an hourly wage.

I got a call from a JB recruiter yesterday. Poor girl. Was a good laugh though.

Make sure you get all of their "guarantees" in writing. If its not BS they wont have a problem doing that for you.

not entirely true. i work for cardinal and make 1300-1400 a week in new jersey monday thru friday 55 hours a week, im sure this contract wont last forever because companies like jb hunt will pay there drivers 900 a week to do the same thing. i never in my life even thought about driving for jb hunt and there main east brunswick terminal is right down the road from me and always hiring. the acount im on now with cardinal is the highest paying contract they have. mileage and stop plus hourly breakdown or delay pay. no BS, do your run go home.simple. once its gone i highly doubt ill stay here. i wont drive a truck around nj ny ct pa ri ma de md with all its congestion for anything under 1200 gross not to mention cardinal doesnt have any other accounts in nj but the one im on.. either way the next job i will take is a minimum of 18.00 per hr plus over time or a job out of trucking all together.

I lost out my long term contract on a bid war with JB DCS. They came in and snagged all my drivers (which was good they they all still got to keep their jobs). But I knew in due time that they would end up screwing over those drivers. DCS has no idea how to actually build something from the ground up. They are about snuffing out the little guy and making their profit off their drivers back.
