I've never been able to get a straight answer from anyone on this question.

We do both fairly easily on a weekly basis, granted we are leased to a larger company. What I do believe however is produce is hot right now because of weather so it shouldn't be hard per say, depending if you can get good rates, which would be like anywhere else in the country

from what I can tell, I think its the same. the truck has to be cali compliant wether he's going in or out. I could be wrong but, that's what I have gathered.

Yeah those new rules are going to drive prices up, because pretty soon you going to need a brand new truck everytime you go through there.

Driving rates up is a good thing tho, especially if you have new equipment. Cali is a make or brake state I love it

It should be equally easy to get freight into or out of California, especially in and out of LA or the agricultural areas (depending on what kind of trailer you are hauling). As noted above, after 12/31/13, you will need to comply with the new emissions regulations (ie. a new truck or an expensive filter). If you haven't already registered an out of compliance truck then you are already subject to penalties or worse if you come into the state (the deadline for registration has already passed).

Getting in is pretty easy, I see plenty of Cali loads. But,coming out profitably can be tough. You may sit a day or two making calls and negotiating rates.

Coming up on strawberry season soon. Plenty of freight, but long load waits.
