Have a look at TransX. Paying $1.04 per mile plus fuel surcharges takes it to over $1.50 average. Thats what I'm doing as a lease/op. I only pay for fuel and a maintainance fund ($.06 per mile). You want to run, they will run you. I've been home in Alberta three times since I started end of January, and only once overnight. Right now in Laredo Texas resetting.

Ever think about car haul ? Hansens pays good and they're hiring O/O's across the board right now (As of Apr 2013) and it's unlikely you'll run to the US. I think Livingstons (Searail) is hiring as well.

Ty I will look in to both.

And last summer I was paying tractors $2.15 per running mile from Camrose to Estevan and come back empty. No waiting for a load etc. I think it was around $2400.00 per trip. Had a couple guys that ran double and made 6 trips a week. 6 X $2400. = $14,400. a week X 4.5 weeks = $64,800.00 a month. Running single as not a problem at 3 rounders a week. = $7,200.00 x 4.5 = $32,400.00 a month. And they got home for some family life too.

Are you offering work? Is that job available?

That's a nice rate and all, however, it all depends on what the owner of the truck is responsible for. It's not the rate per mile the truck makes, but what is left after expenses. I do 80 to 90 cents per mile after everything is said and done.

That particular job is over.
You supply your own truck and the expenses that go with running it.
THe loads that were hauled were already properly secured and when you got to the other end you simply decked off the trailer and left the straps on the load and grabbed an empty and headed back. These guys are what I call, "Contract Operators". Lot.s of them around Oil Patch Alberta.rainyday lover Thanks this. -
That was a good run. Need some more like that now.

While you're correct with respect to gross vs. net, had I have been in position I'd have been all over that like a fat kid on a Smartie! I see it as paying $4.30 a loaded mile, and empty back. No waiting to load/unload, set your own schedule and go. Insurance and plates @ $800/month and fuel. You should have done at least 7.5 mpg on the round, not withstanding the Saskabush wind which can mess up your best guesstimate regardless of what you're pulling.
