Have a 6NZ at 400hp that is needing a new turbo. This engine has a little over 1,200,000 on it. When it is overhauled will probably bump it to a 475hp @1750. So do I put an OR7922, an OR7223 which the dealer has in stock, an OR7923, or go to a Borg Warner, possibly a 174260? Thanks in advance.

177148 Borg Warner if you plan on staying stock.

The BW 174260 is good from 375 hp to 500 Hp and would be my choice for a 400 Hp engine

The CAT 0R7922 is for 320 to 435 Hp and would work for a 400 hp engine

The CAT 0R-7223 and 0R-7923 are for 435 hp to 550 Hp engines, these would be too big for your current power rating

The BW 177148 is also a 435 to 550 hp turbo and would be too big for your current 400 hp rating

That's strange. I would think it would work great...being its smaller than the Stage 1 designed for 400-725hp. Smaller turbine and comp wheel.

Wouldn't the 174259 be a good choice, it is listed as a turbo used on 435hp engines versus the 500hp engines the 174260 is shown for.

I know one of these had the same wheel dimensions as the 177148, but it uses a 1.10 exhaust housing instead of a 1.32.

I never put a Stage 1 on anything less than a 475, otherwise you lose too much throttle response and fuel mileage with a Stage 1

the 174260 will allow him to retain the ability to retain the same turbo during the rebuild to the 475 without having to upgrade the turbo during the rebuild to the 475 hp rating. I was trying to save him money in the long run. The 174259 will not allow him to use it after the rebuild. The 174260 can be used on an E model down to 375 Hp up to 500 Hp so it has the room for the power increase he wants to achieve.

Thanks to all of you and especially Mr Haney. I don't want to start any problems but I do trust Mr Haney and value his opinion. We did go with the 174260 and saved a fair amount of pocket change too. We have been wanting to try a Borg Warner turbo for awhile now so this will be our test. I called the Borg Warner dealer yesterday afternoon and as we speak the new turbo is being installed. That is what you call GREAT customer service.
I will tell you that the dealer said that the only difference between the 259 and 260 is the waste gate setting, and they don't even stock the 259.
