    kind of looks like thread is getting off topic..yeah german shepard if correctly prepared makes a great meal..unknowingly at first have been there done that and never ate better....anyway back to the original topic...hauling livestock...not that i would know :)...here is how i see your basic week hauling bulls/cows/feeders and those on death row...please tell me if i am incorrect...my guess :) is that say you show up at work to ready for your first run, say a delivery of small feeders...put on muck boots, and load the little buggers up...not much problem the babies are the easy ones...delivery is 1700+ miles away...its 11 in the morn....your appt is between 8-12 the following morn..so, you drive like hail..speed limit signs a waste of metal and paint....{ever wonder why bullhaulers are hauling tail ? not to get away from the smell haha}...drive as hard as you can for 11 hours except to stop every 150 miles or so to check the cows {climbing all over the trailer with a hotshot and a flashlight} to make sure none are down..rain or shine, hot or cold..also to put in 2oo or so bucks in the fuel tank at each stop...cant put in more or you would be overweight {or more overweight :)}..after 11 hours of driving you might stop for about 15 minutes to get your 10 hour break haha...then you drive some more...by some miracle :) you seem to make your appt on time {wonder how in the world that happens}..now you are empty {save for the fertilizer}...wait around for the call to tell you where your pick up {or usually many pickups} of death row inmates will be...now it gets fun..many of these been quite mistreated their whole life..pissed off to say the least and quite unsociable to boot...you show up at the pick-ups..2 am or so..no one there..no lights on...cant find the switches..working by flashlight..loading several cows, maybe several bulls, some of which have severe personality problems not to mention might weigh between 1700-2500 pounds...you coax em down the alleyway...if very lucky they load right up...more often then not they rebell..sometimes 15 minutes to load, other times 2 hours, much sweating, hollering, and welding :) going on in the process..you finally get to the point where you follow the last one on..shut the door behind you so they cant escape before you can get them past the next gate...now they own you..and many of them know it......you are locked up in there with them, bent over, with nowhere to go...the floor is slippery as hail with before mentioned fertilizer..no one around...if anything happens you are on your own even after 911 help {yeah be sure you got your phone} can arrive as they are going to have no idea as to how to get in there to help you, especially after spotting a few bulls in there....so now you are loaded and off to the processor, taking the load on their final ride...they dont know it..you got bulls fighting for their place on the ladder of superiority {wonder what a 2300 pound bull slamming a 1700 pound bull into the trailer sidewall as hard as he can, in a curve, in the rain, in heavy traffic, over and over feels like ?)...not like pulling a 48-53 ft trailer full of strapped in boxes feels like for sure......others cutting out their cows...others trying to figure out how to mount in such a low place..old sick ones wanting it all to end laying down in the middle of the crowd that you continually have to coax back up....so now you get to delivery..trailer is a sloppy mess about 6 inches deep...with the recent bans on electric prods at many facilities you have to go through hail to get many of your passengers off {idiots that make the bans need be put in the trailers with their oversized baby rattles with these inmates who have nothing to lose and told to get em off !!)..so finally you are off duty...if lucky you have no tickets in your pocket...as you have slept maybe 5 hours {if lucky} over the past 4-5 days you showr and crash, hoping you will have at least 2 days to get over it all before the phone rings again...a job that is not for all...questionable for some, and perfect for few...sound about right ? or am i way off base here drovers ? :)

    Jake you are my man I haven't ever hauled livestock but really thinking I would like too even after reading every thing so far. I would love to ride with you for a week. Not that I think I could learn it all in that length of time but just to get a real feel of it all.
