"The pilot project is proceeding, regardless of its controversy in the United States, Urranga said. 'It is in the NAFTA treaty, they have to abide by it. So we're confident and we're moving ahead,' he said."

Exactly as I predicted months ago - not that I needed any "crystal ball"...!
Since "it is in the NAFTA treaty", shouldn't it be obvious that the way to stop it would be to repeal NAFTA? I have posted such a suggestion here several months ago, as well as e-mailed the editorial staff of Landline magazine and the leadership of OOIDA - but it was all completely ignored or disregarded, as though it's not even worth considering or mentioning. And now they're "confident and [they're] moving ahead". Oh well...

Well, I'm just going to say it again: if all political resources are exhausted and this program continues - and these trucks and their drivers are allowed to drive all over our country - "other" things will happen in it's wake. I am NOT a proponent of violence, as I said in another thread concerning this issue - but there are enough that are. How are Mexican truckers going to bode in truck stops, rest areas, even delivering loads when there is so much sentiment against them?
It will only be a matter of time, if/when this unbelievably outrageous program is actually initiated to the point of allowing these truck into our country, when we start reading headline news of "Mexican driver beaten do to death..." etc etc etc etc.
What I don't like is the way these people drive. Their ways of driving in Mexico are FAR different than what we do here, so much so that that in itself will cause clashes. Beyond that is the incredible junk I have seen over there that they call trucks. For us, it might be something you might see in a place like the Smithsonian Institution.....

LOL They have to abide LOL LOL LOL... Okay then Mexico should abide on thier part cause they have failed to make the improvements on thier part... Weigh Station, More fueling stop along major roads (truck stop) and have security at them... I could go on what Mexico has not done far as NAFTA is concerned... Abide? LOL your talking about a country that is totally corrupt and supports drug lords... Abide? LOL

If any program was to take affect the Mexico should have to have thier infrastructure improved as NAFTA states...

50 today, 100 tomorrow, 500 next week, 5000 next month... understand?

Same as NAFTA did with factory jobs here in the US.. it wasn't a overnight thing but look around now and most GOOD factory jobs are gone... (and still heading south)

    Can't understand that?
    Unbelievable......................................................................

You mean like all the Truck stops here in the U.S. that have armed patrols? You know, to keep out lot lizards and drug dealers?

Ok, what if 5000 trucks come next month, as a percentage of truck on the road here in the U.S. (estimated to be 1.9 million trucks) that would be 0.0026%. If 50000 Mexican trucks were to come over the percentage would be 0.026%

If you knew anything, you would know that factory jobs have been going abroad for far longer than NAFTA has been in existence. The jobs aren't going to Mexico, they are going to China and Viet Nam and other countries in the Far East. In fact Mexico is losing out to these countries just as much as the U.S.

A little knowledge of actual facts trumps any agenda driven rhetoric.

Well a little common sense also would tell you that all the jobs that was lost and sent to Mexico effected this country.. If we still had the Factory jobs and NAFTA would of never taken place this country would of been better off..

And yes I do know where the jobs are going and I also know the effects on USA, Canada and cough Mexico.... Democrats and there push for globalization (and a socialist society) can be thanked.. And don't go into all that crap about when NAFTA was first drawn up becuase I already know.. Dems pushed it...

You already have made it know in your 200+ post that you support having this country cater to Mexico, at the cost of lowering our incomes.. So Mexico can benefit from the USA......

And by the way your lame insults in referring that I am ignorant on subject does not bother me.. Typical response from (I will edit this part and make you wounder)...

Its a free country and your titled to your opinion... But in this situation only 1 of our opinions is correct..

NAFTA, Mexican truck drivers, Canadian truck drivers is all bad for this country....

If you really want a factory job, I'll find you one.

Very few people would aspire to working in a factory, but it's your choice.

    Way to aim high.
