A good point, but I would also say that the dispatch service that one uses ALSO has a motivation to do well for the O/O. If we don't, the O/O is not going to stick around very long. IMHO, it's not just about keeping their truck moving, it's about other things too. In a word few words, "putting yourself in their shoes"

i agree silverado, but in the same vein of thinking instead of paying a "dispatch service" a flat rate wouldn't it be better to pay a percentage? that way the more money the truck makes, the more money the dispatcher makes. that would be more incentive IMO. my wife dispatches me and a couple of other guys and she gets paid percentage.
Anj Thanks this. -
). We preferred the flat rate route because it's easier to manage for us and the O/O. We all pay him on Sunday and he rewards us by keeping us loaded and staying in touch. We should probably take this discussion private before it gets too "advertisy" though. You can email me at bill@veteranshotshotservice.com and we can swap some strategies and "war stories" if you like. One thing we don't mind doing is sharing what we've learned.
Much Success!

If I was hiring a dispatcher I would prefer a flat rate. If they did a bad job I would know immediately and stop working with them. A reputable dispatch service would be one that provided a great service for the set price without being enticed by the prospect of making more money by charging a percentage. If they do a bad job... Move on, it's really that simple. -
Still a lot of guys losing their shirts over there.....

A year ago, when I was there, still, it was hopping, often with 5 to 20 posts a day, except on weekends.
Not now.
Either everyone's busy... or everyone's too broke to stick around. -

Should be called Gary's car hauling service. You pay him to find cars for you on your Central Dispatch account.....

I also had tried the Gary plan. lasted about 4 weeks, I was new to trucking but not business and seen his flawed business plan right away, back then the board seemed to have some good advice but it wasn't long before everyone who knew anything was gone too.
luckily I was able to unload my truck and trailer with no loss and get a real truck with real revenue, you have to admit that gary at m&h has a good scam going but then again so did Hitler and Saddam and they both fell also -
Guess he let his Broker Authority go. Now you need to watch out for "Gary's Fleet Service"
