Motokote

Watching the video , it's clear we need to pour our wives shampoo into the crankcase ! Now just need test ran to see which brand shampoo is best ? Kidding !

Lucas makes the oil in your crankcase more viscous... in other words it thickens it. It's useful on an engine that needs a gallon of oil every few thousand miles.

 

I wonder what the results would be if you took some Motorkote right out of the jug and sent it in for analysis.

 

I would have to check, but I think someone did that over at the bob is the oil guy website. Those folks over there are the ones who sent in several samples of Lucas and found out it was nothing more than a 50w base oil. From what they have talked about MotorKote over there, seems one of them knew the guy who actually developed this stuff and said it was basically chlorinated paraffin base. Now that chemical is pretty slick all right, but it has been known to have adverse effects in a hot engine. Now whether MotorKote base is that stuff, I have no idea. But from some of the limited discussions on that forum about it, I figured I would be very hesitant about putting it in my engine. But there are several folks who swear by it. But that one armed bandit method sure won't sell me on it.

Could be. I really have no idea if MotorKote is bad, good, or much of nothing. This product is not some form of new kid on the block. It has been around long enough to have some form of study done on it, yet I have seen no independent study showing some positives about MotorKote. You would think that MotorKote would have posted such a study for all to see and promote their product. But instead, we have only anecdotal comments and the only so-called "test" is based on the Falex (one armed bandit) test machine. And it is not unreasonable to take the position that some will state a product is great because they do not want to feel they made a mistake.
