Ok so I worked for Risinger Bros. Transfer out of Morton, IL. First, I just found out when I requested my DAC Report that this company is a bunch of liars. They said that I hit another vehicle when they hit me. Said that my work record was unsatisfactory and I helped the out many times with keeping their customers. It's pretty bad when the driver has to call the company and make his own appointments because their customer service is too lazy. Oh and don't expect much for help from them. There are no light loads 44,000 lbs + so your fuel economy is gonna go right out the door. When, you get to go from Courtland, AL to Springfeild, MA with all the mountains good luck getting over 5.5 mpg with a Kenworth T660 and going slow isn't gonna help through Virginia. The Uline account they have you wont be touching because benefit trucking and PB carriers get all the loads which are light 20,000 lbs and below. I wish I would know what I know now. The Miles aren't 2700+ a week like they advertise. Its more like 2200 to 2500. Now, toll roads your gonna get charged back for them if they are to expensive. So, If you go from Chicago to Allentown, PA, expect to pay the PA Turnpike which is a nice $100+ out of your settlement each time, they tell you because its not authorized, but when you call dispatch they say it is. Their rate is HHG to the driver but I was showed by high ups that they are paid by practical miles, so that's shady. Their rate to your truck sucks. $1.01 per mile + current FSC of $0.325 on HHG Miles. The Fuel surcharge is based off $2.00 per gallon not $1.20 like everyone else. THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU THIS OR GIVE YOU THE WAY THEIR FSC WORKS. So, Lets look at this Riisinger mileage is a total of $1.335 HHG Miles which is like a 10% pay cut. So, your working for peanuts and yes $1.215 (hub mile) pay after you take the 10% off the HHG is crappy pay. Now, you can go with any half ### carrier and get $0.95 a mile practical miles + $0.45 FSC which is $1.40 per mile or about $1.37 per hub mile going about 2500 miles a week. Lets Recap so you don't end up like me. Risinger you will make about $3,000 a week gross vs. Another Carrier $3500 a week. Just Remenber that $500 is your money. Oh and don't forget the extra cash comming out for fuel. I screwwed up on this partnership. Please, Please don't let this happen to you, Pass this around

after being off work 5 months Im returning to a company I didnt leave.I dont know whats going on but things are different.I am getting crap loads and had my good loads changed.Risinger really helped me out financially and called often to see how I was doing I have to believe whatever is happening will soon flop and someone there will get back to the caring company they were. When I was in morton last week telling them about me not getting my short miles on a run one of the staff told me I should quit.I dont think telling drivers to quit will solve their driver shortage, but looking at why they are quitting might.I dont beleive any company has greener grass but right now they needed to do some weed control

This company I noticed a change when Jim Davis left. Sadly they could have been a great company but its hard now they have nothing but weeds and snakes in their grass. What needs to happen is them either shutdown or get bought out. They are trying to be a big company with small company values but, the young kids that work their are just trying to do the big company thing. Riisinger is going downhill fast and the more inexperienced office personnel in combination with their 3rd world partner carriers, well lets just say this has train wreck all over it

Can't say I've experienced all the problems mentioned, but can say as a current leased driver using the KCM leased Columbia, That it is a less than ideal arrangement. I do however get good miles, and I get home nearly every weekend. I don't get very good settlements, with an average of $750 gross......so if I take tax out, I'm only seeing about $5-600 a week. And there have been several times that because of break down problems, I've not got a pay check at all, because of the fuel. And speaking of fuel, if you manage your fuel costs, you can get a decent settlement. By not buying full tanks near the end of the week you can keep your fuel costs down enough to get a paycheck. The heavy paper loads are the real problem. The Uline loads are more reasonable and can be as light as 15k, to as much as 40k, also. But more often as not, they are fairly light. I have had a lot of work done to my truck since I got it. A transmission, new turbo, EGR valve, and cooler, new fan clutch......and I think of the repairs as lost revenue from lost miles, so I try to get stuff done on a reset break at Morton. It doesn't always go as planned, but it helps. I've broke down on the road, but fortunately, that happened as I arrived at my home exit for a weekend reset.....but I didn't get back on the road til the following Thursday. Thanks to the local Freightliner dealer.
Is Risinger the best company? Well, I don't know, since this is my first ever lease experience. I've always been a company driver before this. I get generally more than 2800 miles a week, and have at times been over 3200 miles....based on the load dropping on a Saturday or not. I have had less miles, too, but mostly that is from a breakdown, or winter driving issues, and not from bad loads. My dispatcher is a good one. He moves me pretty good. As long as I let him know daily my HOS I have available to drive, he puts me into the wind. I have been in the N.E. on some loads. I don't like being up there, and I don't raise holy HELL about it, but I do tell him I'm not enthusiastic about being up there, and get me back out. I've also told him he can run me into Chicago everyday, and it wouldn't bother me as bad as going into the N.E.......but that is just me. I just don't like the toll roads, lack of parking and idling laws in that area. I've always driven a hard day. I pack as many miles in day as I can legally do, so I tend to get long miles from Chicago to Texas on a fairly regular basis. Risinger is overall a fair company to deal with and I had an accident that cost me extra deductions coming from my pay for 12 weeks to pay for deductable of the insurance policy. Those were lean weeks. With all that I do for the miles I get, I don't see the $1000 payday very often, achieving that about every 3-4 weeks, and it is both a fuel management (how well is the truck running) issue and miles driven. One week recently was 3570 miles and fuel was $2200 and I got $1430 for that week. That was the week I was setting at the Freightliner dealer for 3 days, so my next week settlement was only $187 for 1575 miles. Again, Risinger isn't a totally bad company. It does have a lot to do with who your dispatcher is, how you run, and your truck, whether it breaks down or not, and whether you get good fuel mileage. These are just my experiences. Maybe I've been luckier than some other drivers. I'm not getting rich, and a lot of weeks causes me some tight bank balances to pay bills with. I'm hoping once winter is past, things will ease up. -
RUN!
You didn't give the breakdown of your lease but I can tell by what you have posted, it's a turd. What are the regular maint, clerical and other blah blah charges? -
$.013 a mile for maintenance, no charges other than insurance, truck payment.
Is it a turd? maybe, but I walked into it with my eyes open.....and I still feel like I have a good dispatcher. He has been reponsive when I need miles fast. I broke down last week, and set for three days while the Freightliner dealer fiddle farted around and my company shop manager dickered about whether the dealer was going to fix it. My dispatcher put me on 1600 miles from Thursday morning to Saturday night when the settlement week closed.
Drawback to Risinger with my deal is, coulda shoulda but I didn't. So I am now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel as far as the lease goes.....I have just under a year left, and the items being repaired are significant items that will ultimately asure me that I won't have to fix these items myself before I get a chance to make money on a clear title truck. I am planning to move the truck to another company I have picked already. The loads are lighter. Less wear and tear on the truck, and better fuel mileage. Meantime, I know break downs will happen, but so far they fix the problem. With planning I can get them done by doing a reset while they take of the repairs. /that way the repairs aren't hitting me so hard on lost miles. -
I agree run from risinger not for them....or risk loosing ur business. Ur call.

I was with Risinger back in 2009-2010. I owned my own truck and they were not a good company back then. Can't image they have improved at all since. Low miles and crappy fuel surcharge. All heavy. Mostly International Paper loads with an occasional Uline. Fuel was my biggest cost because of the heavy weight. I agree with run FROM not FOR them.

You'd have to be crazy to put a truck on with Risinger..This company is the scum of the earth...Heavy loads, Piss poor money, Very poor dispatch, they make you jump through impossible hoops to get paid for detention, constantly sending messages and cancelling loads, they expect you to run illegal, but after you do they write you up, and dock your pay, they charge you $500.00 if your late no matter if it wasn't your fault, they tell you it's all drop and hook, but most all return loads are broker loads, they use the PC miler zip code to zip code short mileage scam (expect 20% lost mileage... I could go on and on...Don't even think about doing there lease purchase scam, it's a double lease, they lease from a leasing company and then lease to you...total scammers!!
TexasPhoenix Thanks this.
