    Hello,

I've been reading the boards here for a while and figured I'd sign up. I'm seeking advice regarding schooling. I've been in touch with Roadmaster and Sage. I was torn between tuition reimbursement vs company sponsored. I've decided the tuition reimbursement route. However, I can't afford it and got denied a loan, despite good credit, due to debt/income ratio. Can't get a co-signer.

The only company-sponsored place out here is CR England. I've read nothing but bad about them and really would rather save them as an absolute last resort. (I'm in Salt Lake City by the way) there are others out of state that seem pretty good such as Stevens Transport in Texas. I really don't want to quit my job if I don't have to though.

The director as Sage, which has been who I've been in contact with at the school the entire time told me he could put me on a different program for about half the price. $2000, as opposed to $4000, with about half down. He said it's a shorter course but he still had a few (smaller) companies he could get me hired on with. He said the course is 48 hours and would be part time in the evenings and would take about two weeks. It seemed weird.... What are your thoughts on this?

*Any* help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch in advance for reading.

Dont screw yourself right out of the gate. Check out the WIA program in your state http://jobs.utah.gov/wia/ its best if youre unemployed.

My suggestion is to find a company you want to work for and ask them what schools the recruit from and then go to that school. The longer the course the better, also ask the school about the number of students they take per class, you dont want one that has 10 with only 1 or 2 trucks.

Yeah, Prime seemed like a good option. I've also looked into Stevens and they sounded decent. The Roadmaster company out here said they could get me the financing so long as my credit score is above 600, which it is. So as of right now that's what I'm looking into. Prime is one of their carriers that they work with though, and she laid out all of the numbers in front of me comparing different carriers and Prime did seem the best out of them.

@Runawayload: Thanks for the link! I went to Workforce Services to see if I qualified for anything like that but apparently I make too much. I'm not unemployed.. The thought of leaving my job (I don't make much.. Just $10.25/hr part time, but still) for school, hoping I get hired on with a company is a scary gamble.
