Called on a van load posted by Crowley logistics and was quoted $400 on 400 loaded miles from PA to NC. Must pick NOW and deliver at 7pm tonight. No. And no.
Agent said that they had a truck secured and he dropped off the load. I politely informed him that I would not be able to move the load for that rate, and I also suggested that he'd probably find more reliable carriers if he could convince his customer to pay a fair rate.
The broker is sweating

That's crazy. A dollar a mile does not even cover operating costs. I would charge a customer around $2 plus fsg (that is about market rates for that lane). I do not understand how they justify those kind of rates.

Because they know someone will haul them!!

PA sux. Heard there were alot of low-ballers over there.

Brokers never sweat they inside. When we are cold they are warm. When we are hot they are cool. Therefore, they know someone will haul thier cheap ### bull!!!!!! I have but not anymore!!!
-
Well yes there will be someone to haul it. Van freight is cheap in the East but it will get you to that high dollar load
-
LOL...Yea, right.

So windsmith... did that sweatin' broker get his freight hauled?

He never called me back (wasn't expecting him to), so I have no idea if it got moved or at what rate. I seriously doubt that it got delivered by the appointment time though.
