I am in Richland Hills and have read a lot of Baritones thread. I have my B with Air Brakes and am thinking strongly about calling Millis for a school this summer. I would like to run Regional at some point so I could see the wife and kids, but am willing to pay my dues and make some $ also.

Thanks g22mac! I will let you know and follow your posts. I have a few months to figure things out. I drive local now and have some great percs like holidays and weekends, but the money sucks and we have kids that are in need of stuff...

 

money wont be great until training is over. 15000 miles with trainer but most get that done in 6 weeks from what i have checked into. my trainer is on vacation so it might take 7. going to try and run as hard as possible to get out of his truck as soon as possible. what area do u live in.

from what i hear they have really small class sizes there so far but they are just getting started. think class has only had 1 or 2 so far

 

wow only 1 or 2 in classes there hmm maybe millis will give me a chance i have been out of the industry since 2006 (only drove for 6 months before i had to stop for family medical reasons)but need to get another cdl do they accept people with out a verifiable 3 years recent work history i was paid under the table from 09-11 and just laid off from another construction company in dec 12 and is verifiable. do they pay for hotel ? or is that my cost. what do they charge for there school? how long is it? and any other info would be cool thanks

 

Yes millis will hire you without 3 years experience. I had zero experience when I started.

For school you will pay $100 to hold your spot in class before you attend, $400 due the first day of class.

Total for school is $5000, $2500 for class and $2500 for on the road training after school. If you stay with Millis for one full year they will drop $2500 off your loan. So your then left to pay the $2000. They will deduct this from your paycheck at the rate of $20 a week.

As far as the hotel they also pay for this upfront for you but you pay that back, also through payroll deduction at the rate of $10 a week.

School is 3 weeks long with a 3 day orientation, then you must complete 15000 miles with your driver trainer before you can test out to get your own truck.

i didnt mean 3 yrs experience driving a truck but ie actual work history. just making sure that was clear...
but thanks for the info. how much is the hotel cost? per day or total time? that is if you know and do they have teams there? didnt see anything on there web page about teams just asking cause my brother may want to become a truck driver too i prefer solo though

also does the cost of the cdl come out of the intial 500 or do i have to have the money for that as well?
