It's sad he died but he made some really dumb decisions leading up to it.

Pretty sad to hear about that, whether it was his fault or not I wouldn't judge what he did as we were not there. Maybe he was in the high speed lane and the car stalled and he couldn't get over enough with traffic. Did you ever stop to think of that? And why did a brand new car need to be pushed? Just tragic ending for that man and for his children ! Their lives will never be the same! =(

I am going to guess perhaps he ran out of gas and wanted to get the car roling down a grade and coast closer to an exit near a gas station mi

Looks like the guy tried to save a couple off hundred dollars and paid with his life.
Yet another example off why limping a vehicle will be more and more frounded upon in the future.
In todays busy traffic it is becoming harder to do this safely.
We all have seen the video's off LEO's doing vehicle stops on the hard schoulder and being struck by other vehicles evendough they had full lights on.
In this case i feel most sorry for all the innocent victims off his mistake.

THINK BEFORE YOU ACT is something one should allways remember.

There are some strange articles today. What was this guy thinking? You know he had some intelligence because it was a brand new vehicle. But running out of fuel, putting his 12 year old behind the wheel and getting out in the high speed lanes were all very poor decisions. Even at that how does the other guy hit them? You can see an alligator or dead animal in the road and avoid it. The poor little girl is going to live with guilt for a very long time. I'd like to find out why the tractor trailer was there. If he wasn't broke down then he contributed to this strange mishap. This is why you don't stop on the interstate unless you are forced to. There will be lawsuits going in every direction. Something that seems innocent on the truck drivers end turns into a nightmare. Hopefully he was broke down and had his end covered.

I feel sorry for this family and hope they can put the pieces back together.

They mention in the article a pickup being there and an employee off the trucking firm.
Also state that they were finishing repairs to the truck.
Fair to assume that the pickup driver was the mechanic.

Darn! That's just too TERRIBLE! I feel VERY sorry for those kids... they will suffer indeed for a very long time... maybe for the rest of their lifes... :biggrin_2557: I think I know what you mean, FatDaddy, when you talk about that image in your brain... I once saw a driver who was hit and dragged in a truck stop by another truck and he died right there on the parking lot..... I'll never forget... :biggrin_25513: My heart goes out to their family... But you know what? The way folks drive nowadays.... they don't pay attention to what is going on, too busy with their smart phones, don't even move over when there's a disabled vehicle on the shoulder... I think I've been seeing more and more accidents nowadays... :biggrin_2552:
