well only took 6 hours to get trailer fixed! haha Another one of our guys pulled up with crappy wheels on his trailer he got out of Lowes! Keep an eye out for those in Pittston, if you go there! He was a new guy, only been with us for a week! Funny thing is...he had me and Flying's old trainer's truck! They put an elog in it! haha He's outta Claremont, which i didn't know...he said they are closing that terminal(or yard) down and moving it all down to Charlotte! Guess Charlotte is gonna be a big terminal for us....since we all got that message yesterday about the new terminal! Anyone been to it yet? I was at the old Cargo logistics terminal, if you wanna call it that....hell I think even rats would be scared of that place! Made me feel like being in Boston was easier! lol

 

So what do I get for being a good driver yesterday?!?!?!? A breakdown! *my best Linda Blair possessed voice" It's a good day for a breakdown! lol Leaking coolant! Go figure, I broke down right at the 9/11 exit, on I-76! lol found the leak...but EPES wants a quote on a "quick fix"? Which will take about 4-5 hours...rather than have the dealership replace the part. It's a metal pipe next to the transmission value that is leaking fluid. WAY BETTER THAN USA...having a blown head! lol So I sit in a hotel room, for tonite.....guess we'll see what tomorrow brings! Officially named my truck Susan Jr.! lmao Now I got my wife, wife away from wife, and the wife away from them all!!!!!!!!!!!! lmfao! DM LOVED THAT! She burned the mechanic TWICE! lol Not to "pigeonhole" anyone...but at least I didn't have a towel on my head in these parts! lol Considering I'm 15 miles from the actual site!

 

newbie here..looking for any info about epes...finished school in feb..havent found a job yet...friend of mine told me about epes.need to know if my background and mvr will be a problem before i apply...have a recent felony conviction 8/10 and a speeding ticket 6/12..15+ over in nc...should i apply still or am i just wasting my time?

 

15 over you're wasting your time with Epes they won't even look at you. Ditto for the somewhat recent felony. Sorry man.

And not just Epes. That's going to be a hard sell anywhere, especially that recent. But not impossible. There are a few companies out there that may take a chance on you but youre going to have to pound the pavement and really dug yourself a hole if driving is what you want to do You're going to have to set the bar WAY lower and get some spotless seat time at a much less desirable company and work your way back up if you're looking at a gig like Epes down the road. They're picky but worth it if you can get in. Right now you won't be able to.

 

thank you for the info..kinda figured it was an uphill climb..i should have just waited on school instead of spending out of pocket for a license i cant use...havent found a job in 3 months and doubt I will with my background..

 

Rock hauling companies usually let that slide. Also if you have tanker endorsement, try the oilfield.

Lol oh were having the same week but you'll love the auto. Trust me. You can have it. Really you can. And the issues today aren't even the truck. They never are. The truck runs good just suck to drive with out the stick. But you'll love it. Trust me. Lol

It isn't yet. No telling what else will happen only thing I know for sure is I had a preplan that would have had me home by noon tomorrow and now I don't have it either.

so I get a 2 stop load Riegelwood to Richmond, in to Hagerstown, in. good trip just over 700. pickup should have been Tuesday 1400. I only got the load Wednesday 0700 and i'm only 40 miles away and delivery isn't until Thursday to final by 1300 so tight but doable. get to IP and surprise surprise almost 24hrs after scheduled pickup the trailer isn't even loaded yet. so i sit and wait another 2hrs for them to get it loaded and tell me I can hook and go. made sure all my numbers matched send in the updated but late eta get the message back good to roll.

9 rolls coming off first stop 3 rolls final. get to the first stop and check in and none of the numbers match the load due today. the numbers I have are for Friday 0900. we aren't touching it. THESE numbers are due today, they're late, and you don't have them. are you kidding me? the guy was a real dick. he wasn't hearing anything and was fixated on his numbers that weren't here and that the numbers I had were for tomorrow. 'well, if you want to wait around maybe we can fit you in sometime tonight'. oh hell no lol......I've only got 6hrs left as it is, still have final to get off, and have a preplan home that has to be picked up today.

send in the message and the calls start going back and forth. through all of it i'm remaining calm, putting on my best fake CSR smile and trying to get in a door. they aren't hearing it.

so I sit for a couple hours and have no choice but send in the message preplan isn't happening so my load home gets cancelled. I notice the docks have been empty for about 30 minutes so decide i'll go inside and be real nice and see if I can't get them to squeeze me in. it's now shift change. the guy I've been talking to all day is standing at the window and a new guy is sitting at the desk. ask the guy at the window about the empty docks would it maybe be possible to get me in I still have final to get off and my clock is running out.

the new guy now behind the desk flies up out of the chair and almost through the window and yells "IS THAT THE ####### EPES LOAD?"......the othe rguy tells him yeah and he comes out of the door and right in my face yelling and screaming.....I could put it all down here but there'd be too many hash marks you wouldn't be able to understand it lol but this guy completely came unglued because this load was here today and the one he was looking for wasn't. I still kept my composure and calmly and nicely explained to him i'm in the middle of things just like you are it's not my fault and it's not his fault someone somewhere just mixed up their numbers and he gets right in my face again and tells me "YOU'RE THE ####### DRIVER AND YOU PICKED UP UP THE LOAD AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED IT'S YOUR FAULT".......and at that point I had enough and told him still very calmly without raising my voice but also very firmly he had about 1 second to stand down and step back and get out of my face or we were getting ready to have a real problem on our hands. 'well i'm not touching your ####### truck until tomorrow 9am"

so I go back out to the truck, send in a message to document everything that happened, told them nothing happens till tomorrow let the final know and called in as well and discussed it with DM.

couple minutes later DM calls.....final is desperate for their product can I get over there? they're going to unload, get their stuff off, then put the other stuff back on. sure why not. anything to get me away from this place before this guy really gets stupid and I have to seriously put him in his place lol.

run over there and they unload the 9 to get their 3, put the 9 back on and back over I go. there's a loves a mile away so I pull in there for the night.

so this morning go back over, walk in and check in again. guy at the desk won't even look at me. he sends one of the flunkies to check me in. makes the mistake of asking how i'm doing. well let's see.......got treated like #### here yesterday, yelled at, almost assaulted, lost a day's pay sitting 21hrs because of a paperwork error that wasn't my fault, lost my load home, should have been pulling up in my driveway right about now but i'm 600 miles away and no telling when i'm going to get there now.... how do you think i'm doing? made sure I said it loud enough desk boy could hear me too. not quite so nice today just not in the mood.

preplan comes while i'm inside dealing with them.


of course, once again it's Friday and i'm heading 450 in the opposite direction of the house. this #### is getting a little old when I know plenty of you ARE getting in when you're supposed to be.

but, things COULD be worse lol......where i'm delivering is right beside the CR England "premier" truck driving school......been sitting here watching these students on the range in the bright shiny CRE trucks who have NO idea what they just got themselves into and how much they're just going to LOVE that lease program hehehehe.......lease, train, drive, team right? lol oh if they only knew.......

yeah, things could be worse.....all in all we do have a pretty good gig here. but #### what a last 2 days. even with the stop pay and layover pay I still lost money the last 2 days.......but still a good week and decent miles even with the bs had a couple long ones.

and you'll love the auto Dinky.......trust me you really will. in 6 months you'll wonder how you ever did without it. that's what they told me anyway lol really, i'll be glad to give it to you
