    i average right around 800 a week where im at right now but that includes lots of tarping pay so its alot of work for italso. i was told if i were to go to irt i would start at .35 a mile which is more than im making now but with all hte sitting you guys do it might be less in the end. ive been hearing lots of deadhead miles are involved with tanker work? do you get paid for all miles and not just loaded miles i hope?

    it's .35cpm, but they only show .28cpm and give you the other .07cents back to you as per diem. dead head is somewhere between 30%-45% depending on the lane you run. the rate per mile is for all miles, loaded, and empty.. you dont have to always do long runs unless you're that guy that doesn't like to stop much.. i don't like long runs so all of my miles are usually 476ld, and then 476mty once i make it to the north east. But i get shot straight up here from florida which is about 1300ld and then 476mty which will start my month tour, and then at the end i do 1300ld back to florida for my home time. If it was for the load up and the load down, i would say dead head is @ 50%. I know for a fact the teams are running 50% dead head. Florida to NJ and then dead head back. wash rinse repeat.

    i would be running I-5 mostly from what the recruiter told me. honestly doesnt sound like too bad of a gig since empty miles are the easiest miles there are. the one downside i saw though was that irt has a terrible score with DOT on hours of service right now

    well ive decided that even though indian river has a pretty bad safety score with DOT right now i feel that paper logs and being able to take the truck home are better for me than what im doing right now. plus really trying to get away from flatbedding. but mostly for taking the truck home is the biggest thing for me

    I had a very good time at IRT when all said and done. Was there from 1998-2006 and was treated pretty good . By and large I had a good relationship with dispatch especially Angel. He and I started together about the same time. But some of the others were duds. I'm surprised your loaded pay is the same as it was when I left, but at least the MT pay is more. I only got 29c mile MT. I see you guys all the time when I'm out, so it brings back all the memories. Very nostalgic. I left when JH decided to mess with the safety bonus. Good timing I guess.
    medical was good at the time, UHC and their 401K plan was matching so I came away with a tidy sum. My only regret was I didn't do it right from the start.. I've heard now that Johnny has knocked the match. It was great when Miss Maggie was around. She was a sweetheart and always said hello to me but in all the years I was there JH never said one word to me, not even hello. I think though that at the time I was a little naive and no where near as knowledgeable as I am now. IRT was a great intro to trucking because I was there so long but in retrospect I would not have stayed as long if I know now what I didnt know then. Since moving to Texas I got into other areas of trucking and made much more $$
    Also looks like you deadhead more than I did in the old days and of course you don't get any detention pay which Is a shame. I sat for hours and hours at dairies waiting to get unloaded. But I wish all of you guys at IRT the best. Great equipment good miles at times but to be honest, there are better opportunities out there if you care to look.
    I moved out of FL because I felt I had a better shot in TX to get a better paying job driving a truck and as it turned out, I was right. Now I'm an O/O hauling chemicals. So I'm pleased at the possibilities. Not everyone's cup of tea but I wanted to have a go at it. Always strive to be the best and to look for the best pay out there. You deserve it

    what would you irt boys say is the average weight of the product that you can haul? running a flatbed i can haul up to around 48k and was curious if a tank is close to that?

    Yes and No, They were sited for caring what is call non-potable water which is not against the law under the FMCSR however food hauler are also regulated be the FDA and many similar state agencies and this is where they were in trouble not to mention they lost all creditability in the food industy which still remembered by some in the industry.

    Depends on what you are hauling but I normally see somewhere between 47-50k

    wow really? im surprised you can haul 50 k... but i guess the tanks are 45 ft long? that would help with weight
