DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON THEM IDIOTS! The examiner up here is liable to get a beat down next time he sees me hate that guy he'll piss you off just to raise your blood pressure check you 3 or 4 times and then take the highest one just so he doesn't have to give you a 2 year card. And the idiot tells you each cigarette takes 7-15 minutes off your life...I was an ### and said yea I'm spreading up the process of death to get away from you!

Just being nervous during orientation or for your physical can cause your blood pressure to be really high. Also drinking coffee or soda the morning of or before the test can make it high. Try eating a lot of fiber and exercising. That will bring it down. Also relax and try to breathe calmly while they are taking your blood pressure.

Marke! This will work. ok.... When you go for the bp test do this: Take deep breathes mainly through your nose. Hold for 10 seconds. Slowly breathe out while relaxing. Take a 3 normal breathes then repeat the process.

Mine was high too and I did this trick.

I was taught this by my old gym teacher in HS. holding your breathe causes seratonin to be released to the brain which is a calming chemical. same chemical that stress reliever pills release such as xyanax or pain pills. Its a natural way to slow the heart down.

    Goodluck

Go to doc other than va so you dont wait as long. Pay the 75 dollars. No caffine, walk 30 min a day, lots of green vegies. I have taken a double dose of one med before an exam just to be safe on bp.
