Good luck bud! I'm still in CDL school in CT and am due to graduate and get my CDL around the middle of July. I've already been pre-hired by a number of companies including TMC, which is where I plan on going... From what I gather, TMC is the place to go out of school if your interested in flatbed as they have the best and most rigorous training program. I figure if I'm gonna be a flatbedder I might as well go to the place that sets the standard for flatbed training! I hear a lot of people talk about the military atmosphere at TMC and how strict they are but, to me that's a good thing. All they're doing is trying to weed out the guys who don't have what it takes.

Good luck, and keep us posted if you will...

I should be on the bus on the 13th to go to the training facility to sign paperwork to get my own truck. I should be finishing up with my trainer this week :).

I'm assuming you are going into orientation as a student? I can't give to many tips about that class as I'm not 100% sure how their schedule is or everything that they do. I can tell you, make sure you do NOT miss the bus any morning as it won't end well for you. Remember that throughout the whole process, you are not hired until they say you are hired. Keep your attitude and language in check while at orientation/training and at the hotel. There is nothing around the hotel, so be prepared to either play pool or just be social with the other people attending orientation/training. That or just watch tv on your downtime.

After your orientation/training is done you will get a rental car to go home. there will be 2-3 other people in the car with you and the person who is going the furthest is the one who will return the car near their location.

Im a trainer for tmc, if you have any questions, just pm me.

Just remember you are really on a 7 week job interview. Act professional. Don't drink. they are not expecting you to be a perfect driver, but show you are trying. Dont walk on the grass. Also hotel staff work for TMC and thus report what they see.

Hey Richter I was gonna pm you but I guess I can't until I have at least 7 posts so I'm hoping you'll check back and answer a question for me...

I'm currently in CDL school here in CT and I've been pre-hired by TMC and hoping to get out to orientation by late July. I see a lot of TMC trucks in CT and was hoping that means there are runs that normally come out this way... What do you think the chances are of me getting assigned a trainer for my 5 wk OTR that lives nearby so that I'd be able to get a weekend or two off during this training time?
