Container Hauler and not4hire Thank this. -
Good advise, your a rookie
-
If you need to ask if there are any good leases out there you don't have enough experience.
When will you have enough experience?
When you realise there is no money in trying to make a living by paying for someone elses equipment on their terms. -
they are all good why would they not be a great deal ? I mean all the really great companies offer them so they have to be a great deal ,after all they really want you to succeed and make lots of money that is why they all pay more to you than they keep for themselves !!!
Just ask the recruiter he wouldn't lie because he just wants whats best for you too !!! -
i have thought abought leasing. but i don't know one thing about owning my own truck. the only thing that i know is i would be my own boss. go home when i want. a far as finding work, buying insurance and wondering what kind of truck i need for hauling and permits, etc stops me in my tracks. where do you get the experience in owning your own truck and not making a failure out of yourself?
-
When you lease a truck you are not your own boss, you pay a company to drive their truck at their speed at their pay level, when the lease is up, you give them back their truck. If your having a bad time and want to leave, you leave them their truck. You are not an owner operator, no matter what you think. Work a while, save a while and buy a truck. Buy one the color you like, the engine you want, with a tranmission you will be happy with. Contract you truck to the same company you were going to lease it to, now when your unhappy and want to leave, you drive away in your truck.
I am not saying all truck leases are bad, I know of only a few. But, in your own truck you have the power to work where you want, to go home when you want, and haul the freight you want. Yes, its more on you, but the rewards are better, and you own what you drive.
Good luck and safe miles,
LarryMJ1657 and Down the road Thank this. -
One thing LarryParker forgot to mention is that if you walk away from a lease agreement there are other issues that come into play.
If you leave before the agreement has expired you may have to pay a cancellation fee, even if you give ample notice and secondly EVERY lease is designed so that if you leave a company the truck gets "paid" before you do. You might have two trips under your belt for that pay period but once all the "costs" associated with running the truck have been paid there might not be any money left over for you..........in fact you might even find that you actually owe the truck money to cover the months costs.
You can also forget all that money you were forced to put aside to cover maintenance........it's gone.
Now multiply that over dozens of trucks in a fleet that are leased and imagine the kind of money a company is saving and skimming off the rubes that sign on. -
never get a truck from where you get your loads....
