I agree much of what we are required to put on logs isn't necessary but they have been required for years .
E-logs eliminate wasted time . You do not have to draw lines or enter locations or mileage . You don't have to total times in each duty status or run a daily recap .

Bison uses e-logs by Shaw which is the Canadian license for Qualcomm. There is a remark section for each duty status or line.If under adverse conditions etc. just add a remark in driving status.
-
Will your system then allow you to continue driving beyond 11/14 hours if you have noted adverse conditions in the remarks?
-
Yes it will. The e-log will do the run down on your minutes remaining and when you hit your limit it will tell you that you are in violation and then it is quiet and doesn't say anything.
-
Once the e-log has noted that you are in violation and keeps quiet, do you then need to do anything in terms of reporting to the company regarding the violation? What about if you have an inspection?
-
Usually the unit notifies the safety department as soon as there is a violation and they will notify you . If it is an error they will edit the logs . I have never stopped for a violation shown due to error . There is an option to note error in logs . I log that with a comment and go on .

Note in e-log:....
"This entire e-log is in error. I've had four red bulls and I can drive another 20 hours." -
Thanks RickG - this is helpful!

I think I just may have to do that! Sounds like research from the ground level. The problem right now is that there are no "regulations" for EOBRs - they are still in development. This is likely due to all of the issues mentioned above. It's hard to regulate something that has so many variables. Thanks all.
