on my 2005 int with a 466 truck runs hot and clutch fan doesnt seem to engage when it should. city temp has been ok..but highway she climbs to 230. at start off clutch fan will engage, and it only seems to engage when the ac is on and the temp hits 230 and the fan brings it back down to 210...any ideas? water pump replaced, radiator cleaned out and cooling system flushed

Take an infrared temp gun and shoot the thermostat housing to confirm that the gauge is, in fact, reading correctly.

Are you getting any Check engine or Engine Warning lights? If the ECM is seeing coolant overtemp it will derate the engine and throw on the "Warn Eng" light.

If that was true, over 220 degrees you would have blown your liner o-rings and would have rebuilt the engine. I think 220 degrees F is the shut down temperature. DO NOT OVER HEAT a 466! You will kill it in a heart beat. Good news, they are cheap and easy to rebuild.

I get the orange engine light frequently, a quick burp of the throttle shuts it off, and them the same cycle happens again, after a few minutes, don't know if it has to do with the temp or other issues. What type of sensor could be bad? I was thinking the gauge could be wrong but I don't know for sure. This has been happening for a year now. If I lower my speed (getting off the highway) gauge reads lower, around 200

Even though the rad has been cleaned out, check the fins to make sure they aren't separating from the cooling tubes.
