    Hello all!

I've been lurking here for the better part of a month reading and reading, and then reading some more.

A bit of background about us:
I'm a 30 year old former police officer and she's a 24 year old Petroleum Landman. We've both always had a love for trucking and the whole culture that surrounds it. Recently, we found ourselves in a position to take the plunge and get our CDLs. We both love to travel, drive, see new things, meet new people, and so trucking seemed like a perfect chance to do all of that! We aren't tied down to any particular geographic location, so we're excited at the idea!

After lots of reading, here and elsewhere, we have applied with Swift as students and are going through the application process as we speak.

I just wanted to introduce ourselves briefly, and as many others have, detail our experiences in getting hired, trained, and eventually, going OTR as a Team!

I've looked at LOTS of companies, read the reviews, considered the pros and cons, and we think Swift will be a pretty decent choice for getting us into the industry, especially since they offer free spousal CDL training! 2 for 1!

Also, I've read some other threads pertaining to concerns about height, but never really found a decent answer. Do you think the wife, at 4'11", will have difficulty operating a big rig? I imagine the seats and controls are quite adjustable, but experienced answers are always better than my often-wrong assumptions!

Cheers, and I look forward to chronicling our training adventures!

Shouldn't be a problem, but will most likely be easier for her with a automatic. Good luck & have fun!!

I have heard good and bad about Swift but what really matters is you and what you will get out of the training that is offered. There is some great videos done by E who is a Swift driver on youtube he has a positive attitude. Swift has a lot of drivers that are new some make mistakes and it tends to reflect on the whole company which is not fair. I reccomend you just go for it and see where this dream takes you.

i would choose a company other than swift. roehl for instance. took forever to get trained and get my own truck and once i did, they grabbed my checks. good luck.

Good luck! Like others and yourself I have heard good and bad about swift, so just be careful.

Becareful in all your purchases and choices, you can save a bit of money one way or the other. You can also spend way to much trying to "buy cheap" now.

    Trip plan well.

I'm curious about how a person that's 4'11 will get into our vans that are 4'6 off the ground! Some pretty big steps! :biggrin_25523:
