Hey all,
Just wanted to post and see what you all think.
I just got a Pre-hire over the phone with Schneider Tanker Division. I am a recent grad and have my TWIC/Tanker/Hazmat, even thou I am awaiting for my Hazmat to come back in the mail (Fingerprints and Background). It is the only thing holding me up from starting orientation now.
Does .33 cpm sound good to start as a tanker rookie? Sounds good to me.
Their Tractors are 6 yrs old or newer..Is that ok? 10 speeds (Which I'm glad they are).
No APUs! How am I supposed to watch TV, Use a fridge ect ect OTR? Do I just twiddle my thumbs on resets?
I welcome all info from others. I'm really happy I get to start in Tankers as that was my goal during School.

Check with Schneider tank drivers and see what they are getting for miles . From the posts here I think PRIME would be a better choice .
-
I was told on the phone I'll avg 2500/week +/-.
-
talk to drivers , recruiters will always tell you a good number, schneider is a good company though from what i have seen. i started in a bigger company and now after experience work for a smaller company, much happier, more money, but gotta have experience. and maybe you will like it with a big company, never know -
I bet they won't guarantee that in writing . The reason I said to check with PRIME is their pay is considerably higher . Over $.40 a mile when you go solo .Sillen Thanks this.

Thanks for the replies all.
I plan on looking for better after my first year.
Schneider Tanker jumps up to .39 cpm after 6 months. -
Very few bulk trucks, for any company, have APU's. You can idle so you don't really need one. Personally I think the pay is low starting out, I would like to see at least .35. I am a trainer with Schneider bulk and I love the company. I have always been treated great and I make good money, always have. I enjoy the people and the job. Do I have complaints? Sure, but I bet I would anywhere else. As far as bulk in general I think it is the way to go, best type of trucking to me.
Sillen, sharp.dressed.man and Puppage Thank this. -
Also, I get 2300 to 2500 miles every week. Very rarely under that.
-
Ethos are you home weekly? Do you actually run 48 or mostly a particular area?
-
I run 2 and half to 3 Weeks and go home four days. Mostly run east of I-35. Some northeast, mainly Jersey when I do go. I have been all over though but that is my main area. Chicago is of course a major stop for me, I usually go at least once while I am out. I do get west maybe once every two months. Cali Oregon and a lot of Colorado.
