Was expected to run 500 miles with 8 stops in a day cab. Got my stops off with 1 hr. To run 160m through charlotte traffic... Needless to say I'm in a hotel for the night.

Somebody got me sick while I was at home last weekend. I'm feeling like crap as well.

Waiting in line to cross the US border. Going to spend the night in Carleton, MI. No assignment yet so I won't be getting one tonight. Its going to work out though since it means I can get plenty of sleep to try to get over this cold.

Waco, TX waiting to deliver at 2200 and then home tomorrow morning. God I really need this break.

Had to do phone training today for a minor issue when I delivered in Temple. I was backing into their dock, and after I lined up I got out and walked to the back of the trailer to check for any obstructions or debris. I didn't see anything. I start backing in, and hear a thump. I get out and check, and there's a trailer jack wedged under my ICC bar. Still don't know where the hell it came from.

No damage to the trailer, one of the handles of the jack was slightly bent but the supervisor there said it wasn't a big deal and it was still usable, but they collected my info, so I reported it to Maverick. Today I got a very stern warning because this is my second backing accident in less than a year (the first one being that disaster where I hit the trailer that was cranked all the way up) and now if anything else happens my job in is jeopardy.

For the first time since I started here, I'm questioning my decision to go OTR and drive a big truck. They really do expect perfection out here, and it seems even tiny honest mistakes are not forgiven easily, and since I am not perfect by any means, I fell like my days are numbered. Now I can't figure out if I should stick around and give it my best shot, or find a nice local job driving a roll off truck or something before I get fired and that ends my career.

Sigh. I just don't know anymore. I know companies have to be extra careful with all the regulations and lawsuit happy people nowadays, but sometimes it seems as though most of us are doomed to fail at some point, it's just a question of when.

Anyways, end of my thinking out loud. Carry on about your business :)
