No manuals at all. You can put in manual mode to control shifting for hills and such so you have as much control as a manual and is much nicer in city traffic. 30 cents per mile for company driver, lease is 84 cents plus fuel surcharge. Don't lease is my suggestion plenty of post on that subject. No military program. Watch your miles they will short you , keep your receipts if they can't read it they take it out of your pay and don't even bother telling you unless you catch it and inquire on it.

Well after 3 months of homework TransAm did stay in my consideration but I have finally made my decision and will be starting with Will-Trans on the 27th. I have seen mostly good and some bad about Will-Trans. I poured tru the forums about them, talked with 16 of there drivers so far at truck stops and another 6 by phone, I also had a 30 minute phone conversation with the Will-Trans owner who called me after I drilled the recruiter with questions he could not answer for sure. I must say I was impressed that he stopped to call and talk with me even tho I beat him up a bit on the phone with turn over rates, break even points, freight rates and such. He was calm and had had good answers for every question and that was suspect to me so I went back to asking drivers what they thought of the owners answers and for the most part they all agreed with the owner so Im gonna close out my investigation and give them a shot. I may have talked to a few of you guys on the phone and met with lots of TransAm drivers at the Pilot so I just want to say thanks for the info guys, see ya on the long road...

No manual trucks all 10 speed auto. Pay per mile is .84 if you are a lease/op, and Im not sure what company drivers make. I dont know about any program for Veterans.

Thanks for answering those other questions i had, i really appreciate it.
I was hoping you can answer these questions i have, i was wondering about the fuel surcharge and how that worked? Is it a percentage of the fuel cost that gets added on to cpm pay rate? If you can go in detail about that one, that would be helpful. and also the would u just fuel for the trip your about to go on, so that your profit isnt in the fuel tank? How do you calculate how many gallons to put in and how much it would cost? What is the average mpg a truck like yours would get in the worst possible conditions(going uphill with a heavy ### load in some not good weather)? Is all transam trailers manuel slide tandems or are they the air slide tandems or are they mixed(depends on the trailer you happen to have)? Would you reccomend leasing a truck through this company? this is for anyone who is willing to answer, but was saying thanks to the dude named kirk. -
Fuel Surcharge is based on the Department of Energy national fuel average cost. Fuel price goes up so does fuel surcharge, fuel goes down so does surcharge. Fuel surcharge is reimbursed to you on your settlements, so yes its kinda like being added to your cpm. Also lease operators are reimbursed 100% of fuel surcharge. We also get fuel discounts. You can also enroll in Fuel Solution which tells you where to fuel at, and how much fuel to put in the tank, but this is an option, and not mandatory. Mpg loaded heavy pulling hills Im averaging 6.5-7.0 mpg. Empty Ive gotten 8.0-8.5. Trailers are allmost all air slide tandems, but there are a few manual slide. I would say 98% air slide maybe more. I personally would recomend leasing with Trans Am. My experience with their leasing program has been a good one. Making decent money, but not every week is going to be the same. Some weeks are better than others. I never set and wait for a load always preplanned a day in advance before being empty.

If you are new to trucking I would recomend not leasing. Learn the business of trucking on someone else's dime. Lots of first timers fail at this lease. You can always lease at any time you can not go to company driver after leasing.

thanks man i appreciate your time and info

Its pretty bad when you feel so threatened by a driver from your own company that you leave the truck stop and move up the road. Today was not my day... x____x
