Would you purchase a truck that was flooded by Hurricane Sandy?

I forgot about the smelly factor. I'm going to have to see them up close and get a better judgement. My main concern is that they're been sitting there since Oct 30th

Pretty much everything under the trailers had to be replaced. Wheel seals races bearings grease, brakes, drums, abs valves, sensors cables, relay valve height control valve pressure prot valve air lines and tanks. The bags and torque arms were ok. They smell fishy abd salty. Electrical system waz screwed

You would have to buy this pennies on the dollar to make it worth it. Most floods involve sewer water in addition to salt water like the others have mentioned. From a parts stand point, maybe. Anything electronic that was underwater will be toast. Any wiring connections that were underwater will have be to taken apart and cleaned. Connectors are water "resistant" not water "proof". My brother is a car mechanic and has personally tried to fix a couple of cars brought back here after Katrina. Those cars were complete write offs and totally submerged. They had one electrical problem after the other. One car needed over $6000 in parts and labor to replace one module after the other. The problems do not show up right away either. It took a few years, but all the corrosion did take it's toll! I understand this may be a totally different situation from what you are looking at, but if it isn't you could be looking at one nightmare after the other. Any savings you got by getting this cheap could be quickly eaten up by unseen problems.

There should be a law, if the truck or car is paid off by insurance due to a flood, then it has to be broken up or completely scrapped.
