    I'd say hold out for something not made by E-F, but that would be a little much.


    Cummins is partnering with them now on new combinations, should help both.

    Do nit have one was looking at some on Lone Mountain website. Looks like old Tyson's trucks and they have a bunch of them.

    I believe the current version is called the Ultrashift Plus ("3rd Generation")

    I have test driven the new 13 speed and ordered a new cascadia with it. Unfortunately my truck does not arrive for 4 more weeks so I can not give you a fair assesment.

    I currently drive company trucks with the Allison HS4000 6 speed automatic. They are good for intown but I find them to be not as efficient in the mountains.

    I have also driven the Meritor Freedomline which was ok but had some quirks. (It is also no longer available)

    FL is going to be selling their own soon, coupled to Detroit engines. It will be a 12 speed, similar to I-shift in that regard as well as the Freedomline 12 speed.


    E-F took Rockwell to court and basically chased them from the market here, also made getting parts and service a big and expensive problem.


    If you are getting new, it will be the 3rd generation, I have driven the 1st 2 and there is no way would I ever consider buying one of those as a used transmission on a used truck.

    Here at Tyson we use Eaton auto shift. This trk I drive its an 09 prostar about rdy for trade in. Only thing that seems to work right is auto shift. I drove the new 2014 fright shakers and its auto shift loved it. Shift at low rpms and smooth.

    Thanks for the advice iIm sure the Tyson trucks were well maintained but Im thinking about waiting on the 10 speeds. Im just so scared to buy the auto plus I fell as though it may hunt my mind and pocket in the future.
