Would you purchase a truck that was flooded by Hurricane Sandy?

I forgot about the smelly factor. I'm going to have to see them up close and get a better judgement. My main concern is that they're been sitting there since Oct 30th

Pretty much everything under the trailers had to be replaced. Wheel seals races bearings grease, brakes, drums, abs valves, sensors cables, relay valve height control valve pressure prot valve air lines and tanks. The bags and torque arms were ok. They smell fishy abd salty. Electrical system waz screwed

You would have to buy this pennies on the dollar to make it worth it. Most floods involve sewer water in addition to salt water like the others have mentioned. From a parts stand point, maybe. Anything electronic that was underwater will be toast. Any wiring connections that were underwater will have be to taken apart and cleaned. Connectors are water "resistant" not water "proof". My brother is a car mechanic and has personally tried to fix a couple of cars brought back here after Katrina. Those cars were complete write offs and totally submerged. They had one electrical problem after the other. One car needed over $6000 in parts and labor to replace one module after the other. The problems do not show up right away either. It took a few years, but all the corrosion did take it's toll! I understand this may be a totally different situation from what you are looking at, but if it isn't you could be looking at one nightmare after the other. Any savings you got by getting this cheap could be quickly eaten up by unseen problems.

There should be a law, if the truck or car is paid off by insurance due to a flood, then it has to be broken up or completely scrapped.
-
Thats just stupid. If someone wants to buy something, who are you to tell them what they can and can not buy.
-
Because, then scammers turn around and resell it, or parts, without disclosing or covering up that it was flood damaged and then the buyer gets ripped off!

They showed brand new cars on 60 minutes last week that had water damage from Sandy everthing from the computer to the airbags had damage when connectors get wet they almost immediately corrode making them non conductive they said take it to the dealer to check it out before you make the purchase.

NO, the vehicle has a savage title once an insurance company has totaled it. Parts are parts, used are used. You can not expect a used part to be perfect, if it goes bad you return it for another from the junkyard. If you are dumb enough not to ask what vehicle and the reason it was parted out, you are the one at fault. In the invoice it will tell you your warranty on the part you are buying. If they lied where it came from when they deny the warranty, then you have a basis to sue.

Does the phrase RUN FOREST RUN give u a hint parts only and wouldn't be too good on that either might as well have 666 on it because u will swear its cursed.
