This is something Ive always wondered. If you follow a good diet plan and excercise when your off the logbook,is it possible to stay in shape?Personally I used the atkins diet and lost 50 lbs last year and im always active.Im just pondering whether or not its possible.

It definitely is possible.I lost 45 lbs on a modified Atkins diet(low carb but also low fat).I go for a 30 to 40 minute walk most days and I make my own meals.I have a George Forman grill and a lunch box stove and a toaster oven.I have kept the weight of and my diabetes is under 7 ac1.

If you commit to it and don't make excuses like I don't have time among many others than yes it can be done. I do it.i was once an excuse maker. Everyone can get up 30 min early and go for a walk. Everyone can eat healthy it's not hard. It's just laziness in most. I have numerous types of exercise equipment in my truck that takes up hardly any room. Is a hard lifestyle to be healthy in but it can be done. Trust me!

Yes it is possible. No it is not easy. I have met guys who have been trucking a long time who are in great shape. I am not doing so good with it. I am not as big as many guys, but I still need a lot of work.

Its not hard to stay in shape on the road. Its a matter of self discipline and motivation. About the only exercise most truck drivers get is to the buffet, restroom, shipping and receiving docks. Plus it does not help matters either drinking a ton of sodas, and eating a bunch of junk going down the road either. I usually park way at the back of the truckstop to get exercise, or if I m going to be at a shipper or receiver for awhile, I go take a walk and come back.

Yes to all points! Plus, once you get into a daily routine it's really fun, and the payoff of looking better is great for the old self esteem. Heck, I can do a lot with a single 40 lb. dumbell, and an old pair of sneakers.

Look at some of the other posts in this section. There are quite a few success stories. The only real question is how bad you want it. In my own case I lost 35 lbs in my first 70 days on the road, and starting with this trip there is now a mountain bike wedged into the passenger seat so I can start really kicking things up. If you want to do it, you will.

Count calories. People at desk jobs get no more exercise than a driver. I worry more about my blood circulation then I do about my weight. I am getting tired of the mindset that truck driving is unhealthy...true it can be, but so are desk jobs and others.
