It's wicked tight. Where we pick up is a blindside which is pretty easy if there is no one in the docks across from you.
You might get lucky and just have to drop your empty outside the caves and go pick up the loaded inside. I've done that once. The other time, well let's just say the docks across from me were full.
H.O. Wolding is a GREAT company!

I would say call and get detailed instructions from your shipper before going into the cave. We asked if they could route us so we would not have to blind side and they did. The guy at the guard shack gave us wrong directions, into the caves, so it was a good thing we called are shipper . One nice thing is they have over night parking with lots of room outside of the cave

Well ran out of hours in Amarillo. It was an obligation to stop at the Big Texan. Now it's time to try the 72 ounce steak. I'm hungry.
Bigdubber and The Challenger Thank this. -
The Iowa 80 truck stop is a real let down.

Well, I done did her with 19:06 remaining. Evening did some #### chatting during the whole ordeal. After the fact, I was being asked to have my picture taken with people, shaking hands, kissing babies (kidding about the kidding babies part, but one toddler gave me a high five). One mother had her two teenagers have their pictures taken with me and then struck up a conversation about what it's like driving a truck. Needless to say, it feels good to be a celebrity for an hour.
Kutina Thanks this. -
Ha, very nice.

I hate it when trucking companies lie and I hate it even more when drivers lie about pay.
1) According to the IRS based on 2012 tax returns the average pay truck driver in the U.S. was $42,500.
2) The U.S. Dept. of Labor & Training states that truck driver can expect to make between $38K and $45K per year.
3) Truck drivers are not stupid we do know how to do math. -
So an average number means everyone makes that number?
I won't make even 38 grand in my first year. But that's why I made a point to say that the kind of miles Weeble gets isn't common at Wolding... Because reading all of his posts will make people think that's the case. But that said, there are plenty of drivers here to get those kinds of miles and make that kind of money.
Honestly, the entire industry as a whole is bad to new drivers. Wolding isn't perfect but from what I've read and heard from guys I went through CDL school with who went with other companies, Wolding is pretty much among the best for new drivers in terms of miles, extra pay, and home time. -
Who do you think is lying about their pay?
