This school is awesome. I looked at a couple others, and this one stood out for a couple reasons. its a clean school, and the classrooms are nice. i dunno, as a woman driver that was important to me. it was a little further away from where i live, but i liked that you get to drive on the first day of class. i had never been in a truck before so i was nervous but all of the instructors made me feel better about it, especially since you spend most of your time in the truck. i'd say like 80% of the time you are driving in the yard. and i had a ton of questions the first day and no one was frustrated with me. and i didnt feel like anyone looked down on me because i had never driven a truck, or even sat in one.
THey have a lot of different companies coming in for pre hiring, and seems like all graduates are getting placed somewhere, because we were all prehired. i was filling out applications before my class date even started. everyone was helpful. i'm glad i picked west michigan cdl. it was definitly worth it to me. -
I have done a lot of research on CDL school options. I've only heard positive things about West Michigan CDL and their team everywhere I go. I already have multiple job offers but holding out for now to make sure I have the best opportunity for success. I start class tomorrow morning at WMCDL!

Two weeks into school here and so far.... as advertised! Great school, nice equipment, supportive staff/ownership, and most importantly we have been behind the wheel of the trucks (range and road) all day, every day. Learning on ten speed trucks mostly full sleepers and a few daycabs as well. We all pretty much mastered the "test exercises" by the end of the first week so we have been having fun trying to negotiate different obstacles that we are likely to run into someday in addition to practice. One more week... im ready to test already and get my butt out there on the road!

Good to hear things are going good, keep up the good work good luck with your test.
Do you any companies in mind after school? -
Thanks. yeah I have quite a few companies that I am looking at. That first company really is a tough decision to make. Im going to keep the options open right now to make sure I make an informed decision in an "attempt" to suit my current lifestyle and situation. Still have a ton to learn and I don't want to live the same nightmares a lot of people on here seem to fall into out of the gate.
critters Thanks this. -
Good thinking, research will help to make a better decision, if I can help at all don't hesitate to ask.
Most problems with these out of the gate issue's is usually driver demands and attitudes, and thinking this is a get rich quick profession.WarVet Thanks this. -
I expect a certain amount drama from the industry. I enjoy working hard and getting things accomplished so I have no doubt I'll be an asset wherever I land. Of course on the other side I want to be appreciated and given a fair shake by my employer. In return they will get a professional, loyal driver that can handle just about any condition that arises. I'll play the lotto from time to time just to keep that dream of gettin rich quick though
critters Thanks this. -
I think you have the right attitude, and sense of humor.
