I drive a 2013 Cascadia for Bison with an Ultrashift and it works quite well.Got 60000 miles on it now.We have had them since the latest version came out and have had no problems with them. They don't shift as quick as a Volvo I-shift though.
JasonMassey Thanks this. -
I've personally never liked the older Eaton autos but haven't driven the new ones. I Shift and Allison's 6 speed both work well, but like someone else said, the Allison wouldn't be ideal for mountain driving. Then again, our trucks with the Allison are also CNGs so it might be a mixture of the two that make them a dog in the hills.
-
The issue I have with the Allison is the large step between gears kills the fuel efficency in the mountains. It pulls fine in a Cascadia with the DD15 560hp, 1850TQ. I also hate that it tends to hunt between gears if you try to control your climb using the throttle. I also dont like that you can only force it down a gear but can not hold a higher gear to crest a hill etc.
-
I figured it wouldn't be good in the mountains with such large spacing. I don't have to hit any grade of real size with ours so I've never been able to test it out. They definitely dog on small hills paired with a CNG.

I should have my t680,isx, ultraplus MHP 13sp,(((wife/codriver special request))in 3 weeks, so we'll see... As peterd said about his '13 cascadia with one of these, all good since they were updated in '10.....I'm paying 144k for this truck, it better be good, after selling my 2000 volvo/det60,13 OD,1.556 mil on it, that was a good truck....Over 1 mil miles in the clutch...instaled in march 2004
Everybody keep saying about how bad experience they had with ultra but nobody knows what year is.....i'm still asking drivers at shipper/deliv loc about their new trucks and engines and believe it or not most say ....don't know...future is good then boyz -
Hi Oram,
I am currently negotiating prices between the Cascadia and a T680. Hopefully you can answer a few questions about your price.
Was the $140,000 before the Freight $2125 and Cummins $9250 surcharge?
Did you purchase extended warranties? and if so which ones at what price?
My T680 list price before the freight and surcharge is $213,000 and selling price is $138000 which is 64.7% of list (all in $155,772.00)
My Cascadia list price is $226,000 and selling price is $141,000 including freight which is 62.4% of list (all in $140,726.00)
Thanks Mike
